Farrell Wins Four In A Row

An emotional Ryan Farrell stood on the top of his sprintcar after some serious dough nuts on the infield and shouted “yeah” after yet another memorable an historic WA Sprintcar Championship feature race win at the Bunbury City Speedway on Saturday night.
Earlier in the night the gloves were off when the time trial time was smashed by Geraldton Jet Mark Wells with a quick time of 13.90 second lap time. Farrell came out and went better with a lap time of 13.79 to take the fast time. In the heats they both did enough to warrant pole positions in their respective dash events.
It was Farrell who took out the A dash while Wells, only just back from a two month lay off with a virus, won the B dash in fine style. This set the feature race up for a full on battle.
The script couldn’t have played out any better. With both drivers sitting on four state titles each in their careers, the only two behind legend Alf Barbagallo, the race was on from the start with Farrell grabbing an easy lead. It wasn’t long before slower traffic played it’s part and a four car crash in turn four resulted in a restart.
However it was Farrell again who got away from Wells with a hard charging US driver in Chad Blonde pressing in third. A stoppage only two laps out from the finish set the field back to Indian file on the restart. On the green Wells threw everything at the triple state champion right to the finish line and could only watch as Farrell created even more history winning not only his fifth state title, but, making it his fourth state title in a row. Chad Blond ran third and a young Kris Coyle in fourth.
The limited sprintcars were a good entertainment spectacle as were the street sedans. The drivers now prepare for the annual Krikke Boys Shootout on March 1st and 2nd with a large number of drivers heading to Bunbury from the eastern states and the US.
