Farrell To Drive Dumesny V5 Car In National Sprintcar Title

West Australian Sprintcar Champion Ryan Farrell will drive the Max Dumesny Valvoline car in the Rod Bowen Prestige Smash Repairs Australian Sprintcar Championship at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway Saturday night, March 29.
Dumesny is recovering from a broken wrist sustained away from the track several weeks ago and is still not one hundred percent fit.
He has been forced to pass up the chance to win his fourth national crown due to the injury and made the decision today to put Farrell in the driver’s seat of his #5 Maxim for the National Championship.
“The wrist is still not right and not quite healed and it will be a couple of weeks before I am ready to return to racing so Ryan has got the drive in the car for this weekend,” Max explained.
Farrell, who has again been a regular commuter between Perth and Sydney this season, is looking forward to driving for one of the slickest and most professional sprintcar teams in the country.
“I firstly want to thank Max for giving me the opportunity to drive his car in the Championship. I am really looking forward to this weekend and I hope we can win the title for the Valvoline team,” Farrell said today.
Farrell was left almost speechless when he was offered the drive.
“It blew me away, just to be even considered,” he admitted.
“It’s only ever been ‘a Dumesny’ who has driven the car. There will be a bit of pressure on me. The team has one of the best crew chiefs in the country and I guess I am coming from behind a little bit,” Ryan explained.
“It just goes to show that all the hard work and concentration I have put into running at Parramatta over recent seasons has been noticed.”
Earlier this season Farrell took out his first-ever main event at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway after several seasons of trying. He also put together a succession of major placings in feature race competition during the 2007-2008 season in what has been his best to date.
The opportunity to race for the Max Dumesny-Valvoline team is only a ‘one-off’ arrangement put in place especially for the 2008 Rod Bowen Prestige Smash Repairs Australian Sprintcar Championship.
Four time Australian Champion Garry Brazier heads the points going into the Grand Final weekend after he put together two slashing victories in the qualifying heats last February.
