  • Ian “Neally” Neal is making history in this Saturday Nights Rd 3 of the 5 Star Dirt Series supported by Speedway Australia and the 2016 South Australian V8 Dirt Modified Championship at the Murrays Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway.

    Ian is a seasoned racer, but at 75 years of age he is a rookie in the division, contesting his first V8 Dirt Modified event. Making History for the Division as and I say with respect, the oldest Rookie to contest a Blue Ribbon.


    ‘Neally’ has raced for over 30 years, cutting his teeth in the glory days of Super Modifieds and then joining the Stock Rods prior to having a crack at Modified Sedans. “I guess I was most successful in the Stock Rod, scoring many podium positions plus a win in the Blue Ribbon Event The Stock Rod Stampede.

    Ian was motivated to join the division after watching last year’s title held at Murray Bridge. “ The drivers are very clean and fair racers and presented very well. Old mate Rob Stevens had purchased a couple of cars to get the class up and running locally again, so I purchased one to make the Grid.” Ian said.

    Ian’s career has been based around the Riverland area plus Warrnambool, Murray Bridge and Renmark venues and is the only local nominated for Saturdays Blue Ribbon.

    Ian will grid up against Australian Champion Kevin Britten, Former Aussie Champ Scott Cannon and a swarm of Victorians including Paul Tindal, Mick Kiraly and Tony Moule.

    Drivers will contest 3 Qualifying Heats and a Championship A-Main.
