• After having their previous A-Main rained out at Round 6 of the JD Couriers Super Series the South Australian Super Sedan competitors were back on track last Saturday night at Adelaide Motorsport Park. Unfortunately, due to his upcoming racing commitments in Tasmania, series leader Ryan Alexander was a notable omission from the field leaving Michael Miller to capitalise and in the process he captured his opening main event win of the season.

For the second time this season Paul Blenkiron recorded an impressive runner-up finish pushing Miller all the way in the 15-lap final and in the end he came up less than a second short of claiming his maiden JD Super Series round victory. Riverland racer Daniel Obst drove a slid race to finish on the podium for the first time this season with Kym Jury matching his season best round result finishing fourth ahead of Suer Sedan debutante Quintin Thompson, who was driving the Rob Stevens and Jenny Lemar owned #66.

The seven-car field was rounded out rookie Jason Gantz and Michelle Dillon with all seven drivers remaining on the lead lap.

Prior to the final the event didn’t get off to the best of starts with the track being extremely greasy forcing a series of hot laps that saw the demise of Obst as he tagged the turn 1 wall forcing him infield before the race got underway. Once the race got underway it was Miller who mastered the conditions best as he won the opening heat by over 5 seconds ahead of Jury and Gantz, who drove the best race of his short career in his Ford powered Taurus. Blenkiron was next ahead Thompson and Dillon.

Heat two was the best race of the night with Miller and Blenkiron starting on the front row with “Blenks” winning the start and maintaining a narrow lead throughout over Miller. Daniel Obst, Gantz, Jury, Thompson and Dillon completed the field.
