• Two times and defending South Australian Wingless Sprint Champion Joel Chadwick, tuned up his quest to become the new Australian Champion in perfect style with yet another feature event win at Adelaide Motorsport Park last Friday night. After finishing second in both of his preliminary heat races Chadwick started the A-Main on the pole and he led the entire 20 lap final to defeat Anthony Tapley by almost 6 seconds in what was another clinical performance at AMP.

Third across the line was Joel Heinrich, who started from position 6, with Brett Ireland fighting back from a disappointing heat performance to round out the top four. Dale Gesell, who had earlier won heat 2, finished fifth while William Caruso, Aaron Doe and “Birthday Boy” Spencer Taylor completed the finishers. For Taylor the race proved to a tough event as his birthday wishes were not answered as he spun twice in the finale, the first while battling for a podium result.

With the unfortunate withdrawal of a couple of competitors due to the excessive heat experienced in Adelaide throughout the afternoon the format was reduced to two heats comprising of a front and rear grid start.

After starting from position 1 in the opening heat Brett Ireland looked certain to take the win only to spin his #71 Maxim handing the win to Anthony Tapley. Chadwick would finish second with Brad Evans finishing third. Heat 2 would be an all the way win to Gesell after starting from the front row with Chadwick and Taylor following.

This Saturday night the Wingless competitors will venture to the Sunline Speedway at Waikerie for the first time this season with a field of 14 cars expected to front for action. The field includes drivers from across the Riverland, metropolitan Adelaide and Victoria with the likes of Dale Gesell, Jason Bolitho, Darryl Sloan, Travis Beasley and Brad Evans among the leading contenders.
