• This Saturday night (April 1) it's the Big Kids Night Out at the Murray Machining and Sheds Speedway at Murray Bridge with the crash and bash Caravan, Boat and Dunny Derby and a spectacular fireworks display the main attractions along with the flying Formula 500s, Wingless Sprints, Modlites and Junior Sedans.

The Formula 500 racers will be competing for the 65 Roses Championship with cars from right across Australia set to compete in the final meeting before the 2017 Australian Championship is staged over Easter. After being rained out on February 4, the meeting was rescheduled for this weekend with every driver eager to gain as much track experience prior to the National Title in a fortnight time. In addition to a strong local contingent the field of close to 30 cars is dominated by Victorian nominations.

The Wingless Sprints will also be on show with another large count considering the fact several the top line competitors will be contesting the Victorian State Championship at Hamilton. Leading the charge will be regular Sprintcar racer Dan Evans, Anthony Tapley, Spencer Taylor, Darryl Sloan, Trent Gravestock and Jake Ashworth.

It is quite fitting that on the Big Kids Night that the Modlites are on the program as they are a real favourite with the young race fans with their exciting wheel to wheel racing in their scaled down “Dirt Modifieds”.

Completing the racing program will be a field of over 20 Junior Sedans and if the racing is anything like last Saturday night you can expect the unexpected as the young drivers race for victory. Last weekend’s winner Heath Thorne will be hard to beat but he will have to contend with Nathan Thorne, Kooper Greig, Sharni and Tamika Pitcher, Mac Caldecott and Ashlee McEwin.

Initially the South Australian Speedcar Championship was also scheduled for this Saturday night but the South Australian Speedcar Club agreed to postpone this weekend’s 67th South Australian Speedcar Championship and round four of the Six Crown Speedcar Series due to date clashes in our neighbouring states.

"We're pleased to be moving the 67th SA Speedcar title to the 15th of April" said Murray Bridge Speedway Venue Administrator Darren Shaddock. "That is the final night of the Australian F500 title and will also see the Legend cars in SA for their annual event, so with the Speedcars adding their state title it should be a fantastic night of racing. We apologise for any inconvenience and look forward to putting on a cracking show at Easter”
