• With Warrnambool warriors Jamie Veal and Darren Mollenoyux headed to Valvoline Raceway for the second last round of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship “Chase Series” this Saturday night the question of ‘where do the best Sprintcar drivers live?” comes up.

Jamie Veal is undoubtedly one of the sport’s biggest names and his dominance of the national scene along with also Warrnambool domiciled James McFadden has been well documented over the last three years.

Veal is the defending USC Ultimate Sprintcar Champion and his run of big event successes include the Warrnambool Classic (2016), the World Series Sprintcars Championship (2016) the Speedway Australia Driver of the Year honours (2016) and many more.

Plus his performances in the USA have also given him significant overseas credit.

Darren Mollenoyux has really come on in leaps and bounds in the last two seasons in particular and the former F500 standout is now regarded as a consistent podium or main event contender at any event he attends.

“Molly” led the USC Chase Series after the first two rounds at Murray Bridge and Warrnambool but his decision not to compete in the Toowoomba round last weekend has seen the budget racer fall to just outside the top five as Sydney looms this Saturday.

“I’d really love to have raced in Toowoomba but it’s a big haul and we just didn’t have the budget to do it. It’s been a dream of mine to race in Sydney for some time so I’m excited that we can run at Parramatta this Saturday,” he explains.

Veal and Molly form a considerable "Premier pairing" as they take on the might of the Parramatta Posse this Saturday night – though that’s not a proposition that has concerned Veal in the past as he regularly wins in the Harbour City.

Gone are the days where it’s a ‘shoe in’ that NSW drivers will dominate their home turf as Veal and McFadden (born and raised in NT though living in Warrnambool Victoria when he’s not in the USA) in particular have proven in the past three seasons.

So it begs the question, who has the best Sprintcar drivers?

WA, SA, NSW, QLD, TAS, NT, ACT or VIC?

This Saturday night’s USC Chase Round sees once again drivers contesting the event from Tasmania, South Australia, Queensland, ACT, NSW, NZ and Victoria.

Sydney born and bred but Queensland based Robbie Farr leads The Chase and the following information makes for interesting reading:

    USC Chase Points Top Seven

Robbie Farr 438 Sydney born Gold Coast based
Sam Walsh 413 Sydney born Sydney based
Shaun Dobson 364 Tassie born Tassie based
Max Dumesny 332 Victorian born Sydney based
Matthew Dumesny 304 Sydney born Sydney based
Darren Mollenoyux 300 Victorian born Victorian based
Jamie Veal 262 Victorian born Victorian based

This Saturday night sees the first Sprintcar race since the Australian Championship in late January with 65 nominations including NZ superstar Michael Pickens.

Also on the program are the Wingless Sprints, the time-honored “Bendy 500” for Fender Benders, a car munching Demolition Derby and a special appearance by Beau Ryan filming “Beau Knows” for The Footy Show!
