• Opening the 2017 season with an extended swing with the World of Outlaws, Ian Madsen put together some extremely consistent runs that have him fourth in the series standings following another Top-10 finish in Arizona.

“We are all thrilled with how the season has started and how well we have ran so far with the World of Outlaws,” Ian Madsen said. “We learned a ton, and know we have some speed and will look to run well at the Knoxville Raceway opener on Saturday night.”

The final stop on the western swing came in Arizona last Friday and Saturday night. Kicking the weekend off at Cocopah Speedway in Yumaz, AZ, Madsen would time the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring sprinter in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Finishing third during his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW native would line up in the fourth row for the 30-lap ‘A’ main event. On a track that took rubber just as soon as the green flag dropped, passing would be at a premium as he ran safely inside the Top-10.

Being mindful to not miss the rubber, Madsen wouldn’t try anything crazy as he hit his marks for 30-laps and took the checkered flag with an eighth place finish.

Looking for one final strong run on Saturday night before peeling away from the tour, Madsen and the KCP Racing team would check in at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, AZ on Saturday night where the former Knoxville Raceway champion would time in 15th fastest overall.

Advancing from fifth to fourth in his heat race, Madsen would find himself in the sixth row for the feature event. Though the slick speedway would let guys try and move around the pick up positions, the track again was tough to make up ground on.

Making a couple of attempts to pick up track position, Madsen would end his trip with a 13th place finish.

“We would have liked to have had a couple of better surfaces to run on to end our trip, but it was the same for everyone,” Madsen said. “I have to thank everyone involved with KCP Racing for making this trip possible. We are looking forward to running more World of Outlaws races this year, and hopefully running well in front of our sponsors and friends this weekend.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
