• Continuing to impress with each race meeting, teenager Jock Goodyer managed to fight his way forward to an impressive third-place finish on Saturday night, in his first ever visit to Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway in NSW.

It was another strong performance for the Launceston, Tasmania-based racer in just his sixth outing since joining Formula 500s earlier this season, off the back of collecting a sixth-place result in the recent Australian Championship at Murray Bridge Speedway.

Earning his sixth-place starting position for the 20-lap feature race, by virtue of a third and fifth-place result in his earlier heat races, the 16-year-old racer immediately displayed great speed at the drop of the green flag, maintaining his position and eventually launching his push forward on lap 14 to move into podium contention. Leading a composed race, Goodyer managed to hold on to his position against some stout competition, going on to cross the finish line in a pleasing third place.

“It was great to be able to compete at Valvoline Raceway, which is a really tough track and a huge learning curve for us, and to come away with a podium finish there is even more than we were hoping for,” commented Goodyer.

“It was a really strong night for us and we’ve picked up a lot of knowledge and experience from racing against such tough competition. We’re looking forward to heading to Brisbane this Saturday night and continuing to learn and improve.”

Completing his visit to the mainland, Goodyer’s next appearance will be this Saturday night’s penultimate KRE F500 Championship Series round at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway in Queensland.

Goodyer would like to thank the following 2016-17 season sponsors for their valued support: D&B Goodyer Developments, Joinery Products, Select Plumbing, MK Excavations, and JP Signs. He would also like to give special thanks to his mum and dad (Belinda and Darren), sisters (Brooke and Abbi), his sister Brooke’s fianc Callum Zizek, his sister Abbi’s boyfriend Louis Maney, Allan Joyce, Craig Munday, and Marcus Kelly.
