  • Planning has begun in earnest for WSS31 with Speedway Australia, Team Owners and Drivers working together in readiness for what promises to be an exciting new era for Australia's toughest national Sprintcar competition.

    Speedway Australia General Manager Tim Savell said. "World Series Sprintcars has received an extraordinary response to a request for expressions of interest from teams and venues across Australia. We are not in a position to divulge particulars at this moment but I will say if we can keep the current momentum, this will be something special for all."

    While teams cannot be announced Speedway Australia confirms 20 teams have indicated they would like to be part of the 2017-18 Series. "The number of rounds has been trimmed and the tour will make a return to Tasmania although not as previously planned. The team in Tasmania headed by Guy Thompson have graciously relinquished the grand final in view of what was considered best for the sport of Sprintcar racing at this time.

    Western Swing venues are in play after Tasmania with the Grand Final Round to return to Perth Motorplex in February 2018." Savell said. " We aim to provide a cost efficient operation that provides value to the sport as a whole."
