• Teenage Victorian Sprintcar protege Jordyn Charge has confirmed his intentions to continue his rapid rise in speedway’s elite category as he secures a deal and embarks on a journey with high profile Tasmanian Sprintcar identity Robin Dawkins.

Sprintcar racing currently enjoys a wealth of talented teens and Jordyn’s a perfect example of a dedicated racer keen to learn and develop into one of the sports leading names and today’s announcement is a major boost to his upcoming season.

In a season that was highlighted by Jordyn’s stunning triumph in the Victorian 360ci Sprintcar championship, the ‘Lead Foot Kid’ enjoyed several standout performances including heat race wins, fast time awards and A-main podiums finishes.

In only his second season of Sprintcar racing, the 17 year old student has managed to outperform his vastly more experienced and well funded rivals with impressive regularity.

Motivated for more success, Jordyn’s recent Easter Trail performance in April was also impressive as he qualified for all three A-mains once again showing talent beyond his youth.

Jordyn’s performances also captured the attention of established racer and car owner Dawkins who was watching with interest.

Bringing with him over 40 years of experience to the fledgling InCharge Racing team, it was Dawkins who was so impressed with 17 year old Jordyn’s performance at the recent Easter Sprintcar Trail that he simply couldn’t resist being a supporter of one of the most promising prospects in Australian Sprintcar racing.

“I went over to the Easter Trail just to have a look with one of my crew guys and to get away and that’s when Ray Moloney introduced me to Jordyn,” said Dawkins from his Tasmania base today.

‘Jordyn already enjoys tremendous support from his parents Mark and Danielle while experienced spanner man Ray Moloney has been influential over the past season and that shows with Jordyn’s recent performances,” confirmed Dawkins.

A long time racer and car owner, Dawkins has employed the services of some of the sports highest profile racers including over a dozen Americans that have piloted Sprintcars for the Tasmanian businessman. Names such as Paul McMahan, Danny Smith, Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky have all strapped themselves into a Sprintcar for the experienced Dawkins as he explains the need to support one of the brightest stars of the future.

“Just the way Jordyn spoke and handled himself was impressive and I watched the way he handled himself around his fans and the young kids around him and you can see he has a great attitude towards them and I can see how dedicated he is to Sprintcar racing.”

“You only had to look at the car that he was running at Easter to know that Jordyn and his team are doing this on a pretty tight budget and if I can help him and see him do well and the family continue to enjoy their racing then that’s a good thing,” confirmed Dawkins.

Jordyn will take the reigns of a brand new Maxim supplied by Dawkins in a bid to break new ground in the coming season along with a spare car and parts provided.
Previously Jordyn has had to make do with used equipment and stretch the team’s resources just to make regular appearances on the racing calendar.

Understandable excited about the prospect of teaming up with Dawkins, Jordyn confirmed the association today.

“We as a team are very pleased to have Robin Dawkins support my Sprintcar racing career and it’s something we have been working towards for a long time.
For me to be able to drive for such a reputable man as Robin Dawkins is an honour and opportunity that I’m very grateful for.”

Jordyn started racing Junior Quarter Midgets at the age of 5 and was a multiple state champion and aggregate winner in a decorated career while Sprintcar racing was always the goal for this motivated teen. Enjoying guidance from experienced Victorian racer such as Matthew Reed, Jordyn has been thrust into the spot light from an early age as he completed over 1000 laps in a Sprintcar prior to his debut in 2015.

“We have never had a lot of parts and pieces due to the small budget we race on so with Car Owner Robin from Kart Magic and Tamar Cars coming on board and offering me a drive for this new season it will allow me the opportunity to develop as a racer and compete at the highest level that we can as a team,” confirmed Jordyn.

An association with country singing star Adam Brand since his Quarter Midget days has also seen Jordyn carry signage on his racing cars of the popular 14 time Golden Guitar winner and singer of the iconic ‘Dirt Track Cowboys’.

“We plan to contest the Eureka Garages and Sheds series again this summer and hopefully improve on our 11th place finish from last season,” said Jordyn.

“The Classic, hopefully the Australian Title in Mount Gambier and some rounds of World Series Sprintcars will also be on the calendar for us.”

Jordyn also confirmed he will defend his Victorian 360ci title and contest other 360ci events when his schedule allows.
