• The 2017 Chariot of Thunder series just got a whole lot more serious. Following the announcement that Monte Motorsports, James Mcfadden was entering the series in August, a steady flow of nominations have been coming in from far and wide.

2 time Australian Sprintcar champion, David Murcott has entered in the Q83 machine of Horrell Motorsports. Murcott has never competed at 7mate Northline speedway and is looking forward to leaving a big impression on the Darwin crowd.

“I’ve never set foot in the place, from what I’ve been told it’s pretty good. I’ve been to a lot of tracks so I think I will get the hang of the place after a few laps. It’s a clever way to get some offseason testing done for us. We have a big year planned. “Murcott noted.

Darwin cult favourite Benny Atkinson has made a surprise deal with Cowara / JAK civil motorsport team to pilot the WA41 for the entire Chariot series. Ben has just finished a full USC NSW championship and has struck some form winning the last round at 7mate Northline Speedway

“I have to thank Steve and his team for giving me this opportunity to drive their car. I’m looking forward to working with Steve, Keith and the team they always have nice equipment and have been kind enough to let me bring my sponsors Aeroflow and System Homes on board for Chariots of Thunder. ” Said Ben Atkinson

A surprise and very welcomed entry is 4 time Australian Speedcar champion Adam Clarke in the Jack Berry owned Q29. Adam Clarke hasn’t had much seat time in a Sprintcar but has adapted quickly on the Queensland scene.

“I haven’t been back in a sprintcar since 2003 in Gary Rush’s car and we just finished doing 2 shows at Archerfield speedway and felt pretty comfortable. The Chariots should be great for us to get some seat time before our southern season starts.”
