• Following a successful introduction last season, the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship SA (USC SA) will return to the Murray Machining and Sheds Speedway at Murray Bridge with a seven-round series set to kick off in October. The calendar will once again include several high profile local events including the Bill Wigzell Battle of the Bridge, the Ross Wright Memorial and the South Australian Championship in addition to the newly established Ultimate Pink Night and the exciting USA V AUS International Sprintcars.

Despite a successful debut of the USC in South Australia in 2016/17 the Management has made a few subtle tweaks to the format during the off season. The alterations to the format are expected to “speed up the show” in attempt to make a night out at the Murray Machining and Sheds Speedway more “Family Friendly”.

The most notable change to the race format will be the demise of the time consuming and often track destroying individual or paired Time Trials with the drivers set to perform their timed laps in their seeded hot lap sessions. The heat race format (2 rounds of heats or 1 heat) for each event will depend on the car count and the support categories on the night.

Another major change to all USC Championships Australia wide is the demise of the “Chase” with each state now having their own Grand Final. The USC SA Final will be held on April 14, 2018 with the final being an “Invitation Only” event for the top 24 drivers in the overall USC SA point score, regardless of the State they reside in, therefore a real shoot out for the overall championship can be assured.

So, can Luke Dillon go back-to-back in the USC SA or will someone else step up and take his crown? Make sure you are trackside on October 7 to witness the opening round of what should be another tremendous season of Sprintcar racing in South Australia.
