• Ahead of the upcoming 2017-18 season, Grant Anderson is excited to announce that he will be travelling to America in October, where he will be making his 410 Sprintcar racing debut aboard the Maxwell Industries # 81 CS9 machine.

Having initially ventured over to America as a spectator in 2005 and later returning in 2008, when he spent four months pit crewing for Roth Motorsport and the team’s then driver Shane Stewart, Anderson hasn’t previously been able to put his 16 years of Sprintcar racing experience to the test in America. However, thanks to an opportunity from Maxwell Industries owners Steve and Karen Watt, this is about to change.

After taking part in the season opener at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway on the Saturday night of September 30 behind the wheel of his Vic # 37 WASP Steering & Suspension / Latrobe Valley Bandag supported Cool chassis, the 36-year-old driver from Albury on the NSW-Victoria border will fly over 6,400 kilometres to California, where he plans to contest the Cotton Classic at Kings Speedway in Hanford on October 14, followed by one of the biggest 410 Sprintcar events on the West Coast: the Trophy Cup.

Taking place at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway over three nights from October 19-21, the Trophy Cup will see drivers contest an A main on each night of competition. The overall Trophy Cup winner is set to receive a $20,000 payday for their efforts.

“I’m very grateful to Steve and Karen Watt and I can’t thank the whole Maxwell Industries team enough for giving me this fantastic opportunity to compete in America for the first time,” expressed Anderson, whose Australian crew will be joining him on his American campaign.

“Being able to race in America is something that most Australian racers dream about doing, so to have actually received an opportunity to do so is a surreal feeling. I’ll be working with a first-class car and equipment with Maxwell Industries and it’s going to be a very exciting time, so hopefully I can do well.”
