• After finishing runner-up in the Diamond Air Speedcar Super Series, Michael Stewart will not settle for anything less than victory in this season's championship.

Michael, who will be saddling up for his third campaign on the road with the SSS, has set the bar high for this season.

“We are in it to win it,” he affirmed, “we would not want it any other way.”

Michael is set to run a CP3K chassis car, out of the Clark Performance workshop, powered by Fontana.

He also does not hide the fact he rates the SSS very highly because of the standard of competition and competitors it attracts and that's why he wants to be a part of the SSS.

“It's due to the competitors,” he acknowledges.

“It's always some of the best guys in Australian Speedcar racing in the series every season. It's always a good series well run and it's very close to home which makes it really good.”

Michael also pointed out he enjoys a good working relationship with tournament operator Ken Jenkins.

The team, which runs under the banner of one of the most famous organisations in the history of Australian Speedcar racing, namely Berco Engineering in the ACT, are preparing for a big 2017-18 season.

In addition to the Speedcar Super Series, Stewart says there is a good prospect he will race in New Zealand over the Christmas-New Year period.

This will be the first time he has raced there and if it becomes reality, it will be one of his busiest ever seasons for the Stewart Racing Team, also taking into account the full NSW Speedcar Association calendar.

“Running the season with the NSW club and as many meetings as we can, also the SSS and New Zealand, we are looking at upward of 27 meetings this season.”

Michael, 22, says the NSW Association is looking in good shape for the upcoming term.

“I think our club situation is very strong in respect to the car count. Everyone has got their cars in order for this season. It's going to be a really tough season, especially with the handicap system adopted by the club. It makes it difficult for the fast guys, but it makes you a better racer,” Michael explained.

Michael Stewart wishes to thank his sponsors for their support this 2017-18 season: Kelley Body Works, PA & KS Contractors, Fineline Fabrications; Canberra Earthmoving; Berco Engineering, Clark Performance, Graham Racing Developments; Quick Time Titanium; CE Industries.
