• The list of entrants for the 2018 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic continues to grow by the day with the latest trio of entrants all at various stages of their Sprintcar racing careers.

Having competed at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool at the tail end of the 2012-13 season, Sebastopol, California’s Geoff Ensign returned to Australian shores for a second time in 2014, which saw the now 28-year-old contest the 2014 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, for Smith Bros Racing.

In 2018 on the back of another very strong American season, which included two Track Championship wins while competing in a variety of classes including Winged Sprintcars, Midgets (Speedcars) and Non-Wing Sprintcars, highlighting the fact that Ensign is a racer and one that will certainly give car owner Terry Black who is based in Toowoomba plenty of return on his investment!

For his assault on the 2018 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, the driver known as “The Human Highlight Reel” will pilot the Q37 Cool Chassis with the support of SEDL Contractors, LNT and RnJ Batteries.

South Australia’s Glen Sutherland is one driver who will be looking to put a disappointing 2017 Classic behind him, having recorded some strong results to kick off his 2017-18 season.

With Sutherland teaming with experienced Crew Chief Glen Beaton for an assault on World Series Sprintcars, the 2018 South West Conveyancing Classic, looms as a break out event for the driver from Mt. Gambier.

As always, the ultra-sharp looking SA20 entry will carry the livery of Sutherland’s Gambier Earth Movers Business, which has been a staple of the Classic for many years.

Another driver who has impressed, despite having only just made the transition from Wingless Sprints to 410 Sprintcar competition is the driver of the VA81 entry – Rhys Baxter.

Baxter was a stand-out Go-Kart competitor before transitioning from the pavement to the dirt in what was a prominent Wingless Sprint career that netted Baxter many feature race victories.

In 2018, the short journey from Cobden to Premier Speedway will never have been more exciting as the three-day carnival that is the Grand Annual Sprintcar awaits Baxter for the first time as a competitor.

With support coming via Kevin’s Transport, Webber & Chivell Fertilizers and Prosser’s Paint and Panel in Camperdown, Baxter could well surprise many of his more seasoned rivals.

The 2018 46th edition of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic will be supported by the following sponsors; Performance Racegear, KRE Race Engines, The Lady Bay Resort and KFC.

Copies of the 2018 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic entry form have been forwarded to the 2017 entrants while a PDF version is available for download from the Premier Speedway website www.premierspeedway.com.au

    End Release.
