• But not in the way we hoped for and the only winner on the night was probably the farmers in the region with rain constant on Saturday.

After completing 6 heats back to back VA68 Jess Moulden lined up alongside US00 Cory Eliason on the front row of the A. It was shaping up to be a fantastic race before the rain hit again and unfortunately the 35Lap event was abandoned with only a few laps completed. A night like this leaves everyone disappointed and wondering what might or could have been.

A very disappointed Mandy Searle tells us “I have to thank all of the Simpson Speedway Committee, the track crew and all their volunteers for the 110% effort they put in to getting our show completed. The commitment they show their club is amazing. They really wanted to make this show happen and worked so hard to try and achieve it.

This is the third rain effected show they had had for the season and as this was only their third show so far for the season that’s pretty horrible odds for them. I want to thank my team, working under these difficult circumstances put so much pressure on them and they all take it on their shoulders and keep going.

Thanks also to all the 30 teams that supported us. Everyone one of them wanted to get the show done working with us all night. The clean-up they all have after nights like this is mammoth. All our teams work hard to be able to compete in this show some making plans 12 months in advance to lock in lease engines, bring International drivers over or just be at their best for the night.

Also we have to thank all our sponsors, supporters and spectators who came and stayed. While most of us have trucks to shelter in during the rain they sit out in the open with tarps and umbrellas and wait. They are a truly dedicated group. Cory Eliason came up to me in my office and made me laugh at about 1.30 in the morning and said – Mandy I really wanted to get my name back on that Perpetual Trophy but I guess now you will have to put 2017-2018 winner – Mother Nature, at that stage I really I needed a bright comment that made me smile.”

So now the Monday after there is really only one thing to do – get ready for our next show and start working on next year’s Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Star Challenge.
