• For the second year in a row Western Australia’s Jason Kendrick has won the preliminary feature at the Australian 360ci Title as he dominated the 20 lap finale on Night 1 of the 2018 edition at the Perth Motorplex. The feature race victory completed a clean sweep of the evening as he also collected two heat wins earlier in the night and therefore sits on top of the points chart with 62.

Exciting youngster Kaiden Manders managed to get the better of Victorian David Murcott to finish second relegating Murcott, who started on the front row, back to third. Once Manders had cleared the former Australian 410ci Champion he set his sights on the race leader and he was making up ground late in the race but there was no stopping the Kendrick Racing #11. Despite his second placed result Manders still sits third in points a mere 1 point behind Murcott.

Fourth in the feature event to an Adrian Heywood who was extremely impressive as he progressed from position six on the starting grid with Ryan Lancaster also enjoying a strong run to claw his way inside the top 5 after starting on the fifth row.

James Inglis was next across the line ahead of Shaun Bradford, who dropped a heat after hitting the wall and therefore started from position 14, Daniel Keen, Ben Butcher and Mitchell Wormall.

The two former Australian 360ci Champions in the field, South Australians Luke Dillon and Chad Ely, both endured tough nights with both cars lacking the speed to run up front. Dillon would finish 11th while Ely was left languishing in 15th.

The feature race ran flag to flag with Kendrick resetting the 20-lap track record.

Earlier the six heat races ran relatively incident free other than Mitch Wormall who hit the turn three wall in heat 1 and Jason Pryde who hit the turn two wall in heat 3.

The heats were dominated by regular open drivers with Jason Kendrick (2), Kaiden Manders, Shaun Bradford, Mitch Wormall and David Murcott all victorious.

Top 10 of 38 in points after night 1:

    1. Jason Kendrick 62 points, 2. David Murcott 58, 3. Kaiden Manders 57, 4. James Inglis 50, 5. Adrian Heywood 49, 6. Ben Butcher 48, 7. Daniel Keen 45, 8. Ryan Lancaster 44, 9. Michael Keen 43, 10. Daniel Evans 40.

The 2018 Di Candilo Steel City Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex, Kwinana Beach will conclude on Sunday March 18, 2018.
