• Murray Bridge local Ryan Jones collected his third A-Main victory of the season as he led the for the entire 30 lap finale at the Sprintcars SA Club Show at the Murray Machining and Sheds Speedway last night. After stating from position 2 Jones jumped straight to the lead and he was only seriously challenged on one occasion by runner-up Matt Egel. Pole sitter Keke Falland backed up his impressive recent form finishing on the podium for the second straight Murray Bridge event.

Following the race Jones revealed that he driven a majority of the main event without power steering making his drive even more impressive.

Fourth across the line was Daniel Pestka, who had charged from starting position 11, with Jake Tranter, who recorded his second consecutive MMS top 5, Todd Wigzell, Steven Caruso, Hayden Pitt, Luke Bowey and Michael Lovegrove completing the top 10.

The biggest incident of the main event came on lap 10 when Luke Bowey spun in turn four leaving the track blocked resulting in Brendan Quinn hitting the wall and riding out a big roll over ending his night and his 2017/18 season in the most disappointing fashion.

With the race not counting towards the overall USC SA Championship the field was down slightly on what has been seen this season but a field of 18 cars fronted with the racing on the night still being of a high standard.

For the first time this year the heat draws were set with a marble draw rather than Time Trials scattering the more established stars throughout the heats.

The opening heat saw Egel capitalise on his front row start as he won ahead of Brendan Quinn and Jake Tranter while Steven Caruso defeated Falland and Luke Bowey on heat 2.

The second round of heats saw a complete inversion with Todd Wigzell getting a heat win over Falland and Shannon Barry while the final preliminary saw Jones win comfortably ahead of Hayden Pitt and Bowey. Heat 4 would see the end of the night for Justin Sloan as a Daniel Pestka slide job went wrong in turn two sending both cars into the wall. Pestka would continue with top wing damage but Sloan’s #25 suffered major rear end damage.

Next Saturday night (April 14) will see the Grand Final of the USC SA at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway with Ryan Jones going head to head with Robbie Farr for the 2017/18 Championship.
