• It’s been three wins from as many starts for Krikke Motorsport and team driver Jamie Veal, who closed their 2017-18 season last Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex by celebrating a clean sweep in the AHG Sprintcar Series Triple Crown.

Making a last minute decision to participate in the third and final Triple Crown round, having won the opening two rounds during the Krikke Boys Shootout in early March, which the team originally intended to be their final outing for the season, it was a decision that certainly paid off for them, with the event delivering the team with the best possible season send off.

“It’s great to finish the season off with a win and take out the Triple Crown,” commented Veal, whose debut with the Krikke Motorsport team back in December rewarded them with top honours in the Western Australian Title.

“Pace has never been a problem for us throughout the season, we just struggled slightly in some of January’s major events due to some bad luck and errors, but we’ve always had the speed to win races, so it’s great to be able to finish the season off on another high.”

Getting his night underway by placing second in his time trials group, Veal’s third and second-place finishes in his heat races saw him qualify eighth for the 30-lap feature race; however, due to the rows being moved up, he started out of sixth.

Making quick work of his progression through the field, Veal steadily moved forward one place at a time, making his way into second behind Brad Maiolo by lap eight. While it was challenging to chase down Maiolo on what was an increasingly dark track, Veal managed to capitalise on three subsequent restarts.

Anticipating where Maiolo would put his car off the starting line, Veal moved to the top of the track, pipping his rival with 10 laps remaining and going on to claim what was his fifth feature-race win in Western Australia and his seventh feature-race win overall this season.

“Closing out the season by winning each of our last three shows and also winning the Triple Crown is a great result for the whole team,” enthused Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke.

“Overall, it’s been a largely successful season for the team and we’ve come away with some memorable results, which are all thanks to the massive effort put in by the entire team and all of our sponsors. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve achieved.”

Throughout the 2017-18 season, Krikke Motorsport also collected the most feature-race wins in the Sprintcar Association of Western Australia / Sprintcar Entrants Group Series.
