This Sunday night, a 25-strong field of Formula 500 drivers will head to Moranbah Speedway, where they will battle against one another in an effort to win top honours in their Queensland Title, supported by Moranbah North CFMEU, S&S Haulage, and Moranbah Mechanical & Towing.

With a number of likely contenders amongst the nominations, including defending champion Liam Williams, clinching the Queensland Title crown will certainly be no easy feat.

Collecting his third Australian Title victory earlier this season, it’s clear that Williams hasn’t lost any of his form since taking out last season’s Queensland Title and with multiple feature-race wins to his name so far this season, he’s going to be extremely tough to beat when he takes to the track on Sunday night.

Up to the challenge of hindering Williams’ chances is James Kennedy, who is familiar with the Moranbah Speedway track, having won last season’s Moranbah Mechanical & Towing Winter Nationals at the venue, along with regular front-runners Kristin Brown and Ryan Skennar, who will also be ones to watch.

Former Australia # 2 Kaydon Iverson will be joined on track by his dad Alan, who will amazingly be contesting what is his 32nd consecutive Queensland Title attempt. While Kaydon has shown solid consistency and pace throughout the past few seasons, taking out the 2015-16 season KRE F500 Championship Series, Alan has a wealth of racing experience behind him which he will no doubt put to use during the Queensland Title event.

There are a host of other Queensland competitors who are not to be discounted, including one of the country’s leading Speedway Sidecar racers Brodie Cohen, who recently stepped into the Formula 500s class, Mace Papworth, Jamie Korte, Mathew Fleming, Robert Faux, Jake Downs, Owen Davison, Jared Desmares, Ross Dunstan, Stephen Faux, AJ Josefski, Josh Pokarier, Cohen Archer, Philip Roberts, Paul Swindells, Lexi Underwood, Lincoln Baker and Tony Schmidt.

Piloting the only interstate registered car, Jarrod Bamfield will be hoping to make his presence felt aboard the Vic # 58 car, with the expat Victorian wanting to prove himself against the rest of the Queensland field.

In addition to the Moranbah North CFMEU, S&S Haulage, and Moranbah Mechanical & Towing supported Queensland Formula 500s Title, Sunday night’s program will also feature a number of support classes, including the EZY Group Super Sedans, Junior Sedans, Outlaw Sprint Sedans, Street Stocks and Junior F500s.

Gates open from 4pm, with racing to commence at 6pm. Admission prices are as follows: adult $25, pensioner/student $15, children under 15 FREE.

Moranbah Speedway is located on Sarchedons Road in Moranbah, Queensland.
