• The 2018-19 Premier Speedway Club Calendar has been finalised with 13 different divisions all being set to take to the track from opening night on Saturday November 3 through to Easter Sunday on April 21, 2019.

Having attended several track meetings in recent months, which have involved the venues that host Sprintcar Racing in Victoria, including Mt. Gambier as well as multiple meetings with a large portion of all Victorian Speedway venues and Racing Divisions, the task of working together to construct viable racing calendars has been an intricate process.

In the 2018-19 Season, Premier Speedway will again showcase several Blue-Ribbon events, such as the 47th South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, the Easter Sprintcar Trail as well as Victorian Titles for both Speedcars and Sprintcars.

In a welcome addition to the calendar, not one, but two rounds of World Series Sprintcars are planned for the Speedweek portion of the National Touring Sprintcar Series, with round 3 planned for Saturday December 29, 2018 before the traditional finale to Speedweek is held as the first event of 2019, on Tuesday January 1, being New Year’s Day.

The Wingless Sprint Australian Championship will also be a highlight of the season, with a large field of cars expected for the two-night Championship on Friday February 22 and Saturday February 23, 2019.

In all 13 divisions will take to Premier Speedway throughout the season, with events such as the Yeoman Williams Memorial and Neville Pike Cup for Juniors Sedans, the Super Rod Cup as well as the Formula 500 Jack Willsher Cup all forming part of an action-packed program.

Max’s Race (December 15) and the Grand Final of the Eureka Sprintcar Series (March 16) will also form a large part of the Premier Speedway Track Premiership throughout the 2018-19 season.

Following their wash-out back in April, the Super Sedans are again scheduled on the program for March 30, which will form part of back-to-back nights of Racing with both the Super Sedans and Legend Cars slated to compete at Borderline Speedway, Mt. Gambier on Friday March 29, before travelling back into Victoria to compete at Premier Speedway on Saturday March 30, 2019.

“All in all we are very excited about what is in store for next season, we have worked with the other Victorian Tracks, as well as keeping an eye on the dates of a majority of the major National Events to give the competitors and race fans, every chance to maximise their participation”, Premier Speedway General Manager David Mills said.

“With the Australian Sprintcar Championship in Brisbane this year, the Classic will again be the weekend prior to the Australia Day weekend, and while this is largely influenced by a couple of factors such as when January 1st falls and also the date of the Australian Title, we are aiming to return the Classic to the 24th, 25th and 26th of January in 2020”, Mills added.

As always, with any race calendar, there are many questions raised about why some divisions are scheduled, while others miss out, a topic that the General Manager was happy to expand on.

“In the Speedway Victoria Racing Calendar last season there were 25 tracks listed, which included Mt. Gamier and Heartland Raceway at Moama, there were also as many as ten State Titles listed under the VSC banner alone, which excludes the National divisions such as Formula 500’s, Late Models, Super Sedans, Wingless Sprints, Street Stocks and Sprintcars”.

“To try and put a schedule together, that alleviates date clashes and having divisions race at multiple venues in the one state on the same night is tough and the reality of it is, that while we may have wanted to run 360 Sprintcars or more Street Stocks events, whatever it may have been, sometimes we have to amicably agree with the divisions in question, that all we can do is try and work on something for the following season. In short there are just not enough Saturday nights to go around”, he added.

“All in all, given the parameters we work within, we are very pleased to be able to announce what we think is an exciting and action packed 2018-19 Race Calendar”, Mills concluded.

With an exciting calendar now released, memberships, seasons passes, grandstand and terrace seating renewals are now on offer and it is anticipated that on-line ticketing options will be available to the public for all race meetings including the 47th South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic in early October.

** Please note on-line ticket sales are NOT yet available. These will commence in October **
