• This Saturday night (January 12) the Westline Speedway at Whyalla will host its opening night of action for 2019 with Round 4 of the MJS Street Stock Series being the main attraction. A field of close to 20 drivers will take to the track with several the State’s leading drivers set to make the trek west.

Last Saturday’s winner, and former Australian Champion, Rhys Heinrich will be tough to beat in the Patriot Motorsports #11 but he won’t have it all his own way as Nigel Reichstein, South-East racer Jayden Edwards, Loxton’s Neville Nitschke, Darren Brumfield, Bailey Heinrich and local Andy Maxwell Jr will all keep him honest in what should be a classic Holden V Ford contest.

The only Victorian entry is that of current Australia #2 Corey Sandow and you can bet that the Mildura based racer would nothing more than to beat the strong South Australian line-up and head back home as the MJS Round winner.

A handy field of Formula 500’s will also be on hand to contest a round of their South Australian State Series with four of the top five drivers in the current standings entered. Series leader Brendan Zadow will be looking to extend his series lead but he will have some tough competition especially from local standout Angelo Karoussis and Brad Stell. Stuart Townley, Dean Cottrell and Nathan O’Shea will also be drivers to keep an eye on in the 10-car field.

Following the Zeke Agars Memorial last weekend at Murray Bridge the V6 Sprints will back up with another strong line-up headed by South Australian Champion Chris James, Kym Simon, who was on the podium last Saturday night, and Michael Buxallen.

Completing the huge racing program will be Modlites, Super Sedans, Wingless Sprints and a 4 Cylinder Jump Race.

The Modlite nomination list includes some of the best drivers South Australia has to offer with veteran Brian Chadwick, local Michael Brown, Nathan and Andrew Launer and regular AMCA National racer Jake Armstrong all set to compete.

With nominations still open it is anticipated that the Super Sedan and Wingless Sprint entries will increase with Australian Champion Joel Chadwick, Anthony Tapley, Normie Moore and Cody Atkins set to battle it out again. Last Saturday at Murray Bridge Chadwick emerged the winner of the A-Main with Atkins in third just ahead of Tapley, so you can be assured that they will want to resume their on track battle this weekend at the Westline Speedway.

The Brian Skelton Super Sedan Memorial has only attracted a small field including Whyalla’s Michael Brown, Paul Blenkiron and Steve Schwartz.
