  • While the 24/7 Motorsports team have been forced to make a last-minute change to their 2018-19 season plans due to an unfortunate development with regular team driver Terry McCarl being unable to pilot their car, team owner Ken Hutchins and the team have chosen to look on the bright side.

Considered one of the world’s leading Sprintcar drivers, American racer McCarl had planned to fill the driver’s seat in the team’s Vic # 24 Markscon / Mainline Dynamometers backed ART machine during what is considered the busiest month on the Sprintcar calendar. However, due to business circumstances, McCarl is no longer able to do so.

“It’s an unfortunate situation, but one that can’t be helped,” stated Hutchins.

“In light of this development, we are pleased to announce that the team’s full-time driver in Paul Solomon has agreed to take over driver duties for the upcoming string of blue-ribbon events, including the Grand Annual Classic.”

A Sprintcar stalwart through and through, Solomon, who won last season’s 360 Sprintcar All Star Series with the 24/7 Motorsports team, has amazingly not missed a single Grand Annual Classic event during his 34 years; however, having only attended the event as a spectator, he had not yet had the opportunity to compete as a driver – until now.

“I’m absolutely over the moon to be competing in my first ever Grand Annual Classic,” enthused Solomon, who has been racing Sprintcars for the past decade, predominantly in the 360 class.

“It’s without a doubt the biggest speedway event in Australia and one that’s quite special to me, considering I’ve been watching it for 34 years. To finally come out from behind the fence and join the country’s best drivers on the track is a dream come true, and the goal is to try and make the feature-race field on the final night.”

Prior to the Grand Annual Classic, which will take place at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway from January 18 to 20, Solomon’s next event will be this Saturday night’s $10,000 to Win 360 Sprintcar All Star Challenge at Simpson Speedway.

His next event in 410 Sprintcars will be the President’s Cup at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway on January 16, followed by the Kings Challenge at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway on January 17.

The 24/7 Motorsports team is proudly supported by the following 2018-19 season sponsors: Markscon, a constructions company based in Moorabbin, Victoria, and Mainline Dynamometers, specialist dynamometer manufacturers.
