• Since teaming up with 410 Sprintcar team owner and crew chief Mat Muir at the beginning of the season, Ben Ellement is thoroughly enjoying their 2018-19 season campaign, with fun being the name of the game for the Western Australian duo.

With Ellement, who has raced Sprintcars for well over a decade, having driven for his good friend Muir in the past, he was more than willing to take up the opportunity of doing so again.

Splitting their time between Cool and ART chassis in the early stages of the season, Ellement and Muir have shown solid speed in the WA # 53 MMS Civil / Ellement Produce supported Cool car, recently rounding out the podium during a USA vs Australia Series round at Collie Speedway, placing third.

“I’m really enjoying racing with Mat, as we both have the same goal, which is to have fun while doing what it takes to get a good result,” expressed Ellement, who contested a limited schedule last season aboard his own car.

“I’ve known Mat and his family for a long time and it’s very much a family operation which suits both of our lifestyles. We are just taking each race meeting as it comes and trying to enjoy ourselves and be as competitive as possible with limited track time.”

Previously experiencing success as a driver, that success continued for Muir as a car owner, with his list of accolades including winning an Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship with Luke Dillon behind the wheel and a World Series Sprintcar Championship round win at Murray Bridge Speedway (SA) at the hands of Matt Egel.

Not putting his car out on track last season due to business commitments, Muir decided to make a return this season, offering the driving duties to his friend Ellement, from the Perth suburb of Mandogalup.

“It’s great having Ben in the car, because we both have the same approach to racing,” commented Muir.

“We both love our speedway racing, but we’re determined not to take it too seriously and just have as much fun as we can. Any results we’re able to pick up in the process are just a bonus.”

With the remainder of the 2018-19 season not quite set in stone, with Ellement and Muir just taking things as they come, the next outing for the pair will be this Saturday night at the Perth Motorplex for the 12th round of the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series. The duo is already looking towards the 2019-20 season, with some big plans on the horizon.

Ellement and the Muir Motorsports team would like to thank their 2018-19 season sponsors: MMS Civil, Ellement Produce, FlowFactor, United Fluid Power, Design Signs, Territory Plant Hire, National Karate, and South West Conveyancing.
