• This Saturday night at Murray Bridge Speedway the All Stars are set to honour the late Ross Wright by running the annual Ross Wright Memorial.

“Ross is a legend of South Aussie Speedway having raced for almost 50 years in different classes before he passed away with pancreatic cancer. He raced Stock Rods, Super Sedans, Sprintcars and he drove the Jimmy Sills car owned by Kevin Fisher as Bill Wigzells team mate back in the day. He was also a founding member of the Murray Bridge Speedway.” Searle tells us as she makes final preparation for the show.

“It is a privilege for us to run this prestigious event and pay tribute to such honoured man. I know his son Darryl, we go back a long time to when he raced with World Series Sprintcars and then in the early years of the All Stars he was one of our competitors. They are a lovely family and true supporters of our sport”

With a strong field of cars entered for RD 11 of the Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Star Series results for the night are also important towards the End of Season Championship which comes to a conclusion Saturday week on March 30th.

Currently sitting 1st is SA 33 Mark Caruso – 4950, 2nd SA96 Brendan Guerin – 4894, 3rd V29 Michael Tancredi – 4805, 4th V4 Phil Lock – 47775 and 5th V16 James Wren - 4698. At this point it really is anyone’s series to win and all the top 5 will want to secure valuable points as well as win the memorial event.

SA63 Ryan Jones is returning to his roots running a 360 power plant. Jones is a 4 time Australian National 360 Champ and a past winner of the Ross Wright Memorial. He has a special friendship with the Wright Family and for him to take out the event again would be very special to him. SA44 Dan Evans is on his way home from the Australian Title last weekend in Kalgoorlie where he ran 4th in the championship.

Evans is finding form again after multiple engine issues early in the season and with a strong result last weekend will be one to watch. 410 regular SA10 Steven Caruso will be having his first run with a 360. Caruso has had strong results all season and will probably want to drive by his brother Mark. “It’s cool for us to have the brothers running together but we just hope Leo & Mary can cope with it.” Searle says.

With extra cash on the line for the winner as well as the honour of going down in history as the winner of the 2019 Ross Wright Memorial racing is guaranteed to be hard and fast.
Come and be part of the action this Saturday night March 23rd, Murray Bridge Speedway. SA
