• American Cory Eliason is the first American to commit to contesting the 2020 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. Eliason who will drive for the powerful Diamond Bay Motorsport Team, will be joined in the field by 2019 Classic finalist Jordyn Charge and another Victorian, Robert Nicholas.

For the Diamond Bay Motorsport Team their dream Classic looked like becoming reality until their Hired-Gun Cory Eliason, was left with no-where to go, before collecting a stranded car in the midst of turn one and two, while holding a commanding lead during the 2019 Sunday night Classic finale.

The history books will credit Eliason with a 23rd place finish, collecting the Thomo’s Race Graphix Hard Luck Award for his efforts, but his weekend was so much better than that.

Quick Time in his Qualifying Group on the Opening Night of Competition with a pass of 10.244 seconds, followed up by a heat win that sounded an ominous warning to all and sundry that Eliason and his team meant business!

The second round of heats, with a full inversion saw Eliason advance from the depths of the pack to emerge with another healthy points haul, finishing fifth to lock in an A-Main start on his qualifying night, where he would finish fourth to set up his final night of competition.

A further third place finish in his final heat of the weekend, ensured Eliason would be a dominant force come feature time, he was while on-track…. The rest they say is history and 2020 may just be the Tour of Redemption that he and his West Australian based team are striving for.

Having qualified for three successive A-Mains at the Classic, two of which were for South Australia’s Adam Currie as a virtual new comer to Australia, before catching the eye of Stephen Stahy, Eliason is a Class Act, a fact that is solidified even further when looking at his results from his past US season.

Throughout 2019 Eliason concentrated predominantly on the All-Star Circuit of Champions Tour where he recorded wins at Virginia Motor Speedway and I96 Speedway at Lake Odessa as a part of an All-Star Circuit of Champions Tour that garnished Eliason 14 Top 5 results from 30 Top 10 finishes, trailing only the runaway success story of 2019 Aaron Reutzel and the evergreen Dale Blaney in series points.

His 2019 Knoxville Nationals netted him a 13th place finish, having recorded a fourth place run on his qualifying night, while campaigning for the highly professional Rudeen Racing Team.

Eliason also performed strongly during the 360 Knoxville Nationals where he finished 7th on the final night.

With Eliason again set to arrive in Australia ahead of the Classic, he will have settled nicely into the teams Maxwill Race Engines powered Maxim, with all eyes being on delivering a strong result for the team’s partners Diamond Bay Motorsport, Devil Race Karts, Burris Speedway Kart Tires, Auto Panel & Paint, JP Signs, Diamond Bay Enterprises and Maxwill Race Engines.

Charge performed extremely well throughout his 2019 Classic campaign and has been an extremely consistent performer over the past couple of seasons particularly in the Eureka Sprintcar Series.

His 2019 Classic was highlighted by his amazing A-Main run, that saw him transfer from the B-Main to start 24th in the 40-lap feature. From here the Victorian Young Gun displayed maturity beyond his years to move forward from position 24 to an eventual 12th place finish, thus collecting the Keyboard Racer Sponsored Hard Charger Award.

For 2020, Charge will again be at the wheel of the immaculate V60 Mopar powered Triple X with strong support from Western Nissan, Western Highway Honda, Mr Electric, Will’s Autos, Trev’s Removalists & Cleaning Services, A+ Powdercoating, Reed Signs, Ultimate Car Wraps, Adam Brand, MPP Panels and Australian Racing Products.

Victorian Robert Nicholas, driver of the R.A Nicholas Earthmoving backed VA51 entry has also thrown his hat into the ring for Australia’s biggest weekend of Sprintcar Racing.

Nicholas didn’t contest the 2019 Classic and will continue to ply his craft ahead of the 2020 Classic with the Eureka Sprintcar Series ranks, while continuing to seek additional corporate support for his Classic tilt.

All race fans are reminded that on-line ticket sales for not only the 2020 South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic but every meeting of the 2019-20 season at Sungold Stadium commenced on October 21.

The 2020 48th edition of the South West Conveyancing Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic will be supported by the following sponsors; Performance Racegear, KRE Race Engines, GJ Gardner Homes, The Lady Bay Resort and KFC.
