  • Sprintcars Queensland returned to Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway last night for the Ultimate Pink Night with Robbie Farr emerging victorious after a thrilling and action-packed night of racing. Luke Oldfield crossed the line in second while Bryan Mann rounded out the podium after displacing Mitchell Gee late in the race. Brent Kratzmann crossed the line in fourth while Mitchell Gee rounded out the top five.

    Qualifying got under with three flights hitting the track for a battle against the clock. Andrew Scheuerle topped the leader-board once flight one had finished, stopping the clock at 11.993 seconds ahead of Mitchell Gee, Bryan Mann, Andrew Wright and Mick Sauer. Luke Oldfield was quickest in the second qualifying flight, his 12.083 second lap enough to beat Michael Saller, Aaron Kelly and Tim Farrell, with Danny Reidy rounding the top five. But it was Robbie Farr who recorded the quickest qualifying lap of the night, stopping the clock at 11.686 seconds in flight three. Brent Kratzmann was second quickest (11.806) despite contact with the turn four wall, with Kevin Titman, Randy Morgan and Andrew Corbet rounding out the fastest five in flight three.

    Heat one started with Nick Whell and Mick Sauer sharing the front row and leading Andrew Wright, Bryan Mann and the rest of the field to the green. Sauer led every lap of the journey and went on to take the win while Bryan Mann managed to cross the line second despite a battle with Andrew Scheuerle. Mitchell Gee got the better of Scheuerle late in the race to steal third, leaving Andrew Scheuerle to cross the line in fourth ahead of Andrew Wright, Nick Whell, Ryan McNamara, Brendon Claridge and Geoff Davey.

    Danny Reidy dominated in heat two, the NT5 racer leading the entire ten lap journey while Aaron Kelly held down second before a hard-charging Luke Oldfield took the position for himself. Oldfield had started deep in the field thanks to his qualifying efforts, and quickly made his way into third before displacing Kelly with only a few laps to run. Danny Reidy got the win ahead of Luke Oldfield and Aaron Kelly, with Michael Saller, Anthony Lambert, Tim Farrell, Karl Hoffmans and Scott Genrich rounding out the finishers.

    Robbie Farr quickly took control of heat three, with Randy Morgan advancing quickly in the early stages of the race to settle into second. Kevin Titman held down third until a late race pass from Brent Kratzmann saw the Q59 racer relegated back to fourth while behind them Blake Darcy and Mitch Gowland battled over minor places towards the tail end of the field. Robbie Farr got the win ahead of Randy Morgan, Brent Kratzmann, Kevin Titman, Steve Greer, Mitch Gowland, Andrew Corbet, Blake Darcy and Libby Ellis.

    Heat four started with Andrew Scheuerle and Mitchell Gee sharing the front row, with Scheuerle initially securing the lead when the lights went green, only for Bryan Mann, from position three, to race through on the bottom, sliding underneath the leaders and taking control of the race. Scheuerle fought back hard, looking on the inside of Mann as they rounded turns three and four, but Mann was too strong on the top side and managed to maintain his lead. Gee had a look under Scheuerle while Mann extended his lead, and Mick Sauer and Brendon Claridge had a brilliant battle mid-field. Bryan Mann went on to take the win ahead of Mitchell Gee, Andrew Scheuerle, Nick Whell, Mick Sauer, Brendon Claridge, Geoff Davey, Andrew Wright and Ryan McNamara.

    Heat five started with Luke Oldfield and Michael Saller from the front row, with Oldfield quickly securing the race lead, while Aaron Kelly, from position three, charged through on the bottom and took the lead. Saller tried to follow Kelly but had to resign himself to battling Oldfield for second, the pair almost coming together while searching for a way around Kelly, while Kelly had the immaculately presented Q7 racer in magnificent form on the bottom. Oldfield challenged Kelly on the high side, with Saller still right on his tail, and while Oldfield was able to get his nose in front the pair remained two abreast until Saller raced straight between them and into the race lead. Saller left Kelly and Oldfield to fight over second, the duo still side-by-side and putting on a spectacular show for the large Toowoomba crowd. Michael Saller got the win ahead of Luke Oldfield and Aaron Kelly, with Danny Reidy home in fourth ahead of Anthony Lambert, Tim Farrell, Karl Hoffmans, Scott Genrich and David Kenway.

    Heat six hit the track with Robbie Farr and Brent Kratzmann sharing the front row for the start with Kevin Titman and Randy Morgan close behind. Kratzmann got the better start when the lights went green, but it wasn’t long before Farr challenged on the bottom, sliding underneath Kratzmann and taking the lead. Randy Morgan challenged both Farr and Kratzmann, doing a remarkable job on the bottom and racing underneath both Farr and Kratzmann, the trio three-wide until Morgan managed to emerge in front and steal the lead. Farr settled into second ahead of Kratzmann, but the battle for the lead was fierce with control changing as the drivers endured a couple of cautions. Farr managed to secure the advantage leaving Morgan to defend his position from a hard-charging Kratzmann, the Q54 racer withstanding the pressure and going on to once again challenge Farr for control. Kratzmann had a bold look between Farr and Morgan, before being forced on the defensive as Titman challenged for third. Titman and Kratzmann changed positions several times as they raced towards the chequered flag, but there was no stopping Robbie Farr as he raced to victory ahead of Randy Morgan. Brent Kratzmann crossed the line in third ahead of Kevin Titman, Blake Darcy, Steve Greer, Mitch Gowland and Libby Ellis. Andrew Corbet did not finish the event.

    The top eight qualifiers hit the track for the pole shuffle event, with Randy Morgan and Brent Kratzmann the first pairing to hit the track. Kratzmann got the jump on the start and quickly opened a comfortable lead before taking the win and advancing to the next round. Andrew Scheuerle joined Kratzmann on track for the next event, with Scheuerle this time emerging victorious. Mitchell Gee was next on track and while Gee got the initial jump on Scheuerle when the lights went green, Scheuerle soon raced underneath Gee and took control before going on to get the win. Michael Saller joined Scheuerle on the track and secured the lead before taking the win despite a fierce challenge from Scheuerle. Saller was then joined on track by Bryan Mann, with Mann securing the advantage when the lights went green, before Saller slid underneath the Q16 racer and moved to the front, taking the win and going on to battle Luke Oldfield. Oldfield proved too strong for Saller and got the win to secure his spot in the final battle to determine pole position for the start of the main race. Robbie Farr joined Oldfield on the track and while Farr initially got the lead, Oldfield raced around the top, securing the lead and taking the win, leaving Farr in second.

    The B-Main started with Steve Greer and Mitch Gowland from the front row, with Gowland quickly securing the race lead while Ryan McNamara began trying to make his way forward from deep in the field. McNamara was racing around the top side before trying to race between Greer and Scott Genrich, but contact between them ended with Genrich turned around, leaving Geoff Davey with nowhere to go. Heavy head-on contact between Genrich and Davey saw both cars up-side-down and out of the race, but fortunately both drivers walked away from the wreck. A full restart followed with Gowland again securing the lead and McNamara once more working his way forward. With only a few laps left to run Brendon Claridge got into the wall heading down the back straight and inverted the Q47 racer in a spectacular series of end-to-end rolls that eventually finished in the turn three catch fence. Fortunately Claridge was able to walk away from the crash. Gowland led the restart while behind him Steve Greer and Blake Darcy negotiated over the final transfer position before Greer clipped the wall and cut down a right rear tyre. Another caution with one lap to run saw the race declared with Mitch Gowland, Ryan McNamara, Blake Darcy and Karl Hoffmans all securing transfers to the main race. Andrew Corbet finished fifth ahead of Libby Ellis and David Kenway. Brendon Claridge, Geoff Davey and Scott Genrich all failed to finish the event.

    Twenty cars rolled onto the track for the thirty-lap A-Main event, with Luke Oldfield and Robbie Farr sharing the front row for the start. Farr was quick to secure the lead on the top-side ahead of Oldfield, while Andrew Scheuerle and Bryan Mann raced side-by-side as they negotiated over minor positions. Mitchell Gee slipped straight between Scheuerle and Mann, only for Mann to fight back and regain the advantage, leaving Gee and Scheuerle to their own thrilling battle. Brent Kratzmann, Aaron Kelly and Randy Morgan fought over mid-field positions, while Oldfield challenged Farr for the race lead as Michael Saller challenged for second. Gee dived underneath Mann while Saller held nothing back as he dove underneath Oldfield as they rounded turn four. Unfortunately for Saller he rode the wall coming out of the turn, damaging the steering on the N56 racer, and headed down straight before making hard contact with the concrete wall on the inside edge of the track.

    Robbie Farr led the restart from Luke Oldfield, Mitchell Gee, Bryan Mann, Andrew Scheuerle, Danny Reidy and Kevin Titman, and while Gee challenged Oldfield for second, Titman looped the Q59 racer. Titman was able to keep the car moving but the race had already been brought under caution. Farr again led the restart, with twenty-three laps still to run, with Brent Kratzmann and Andrew Scheuerle having a close battle mid-field as they both tried to find a way around Anthony Lambert who sat just outside the top five contenders. Farr built a sizable lead but with seventeen laps to run he entered heavy lapped traffic and Oldfield, and Gee, closed in quickly. Gee slid underneath Oldfield, only for Oldfield to immediately take his position back, the pair duelling for a number of laps before Mann joined the battle, having a big look underneath Gee with eight laps left to run. Another caution gave the leaders clear track ahead on the restart, with Danny Reidy now challenging Bryan Mann for fourth. Oldfield chased Farr, searching for a way into the lead, while Bryan Mann managed to displace Mitchell Gee and set out after Oldfield. Another caution soon followed, with Titman cutting down a right rear tyre and bringing the race under yellow light conditions, while Danny Reidy suffered mechanical dramas in the NT5 racer and came to a stop during the caution.

    A five-lap sprint to the chequered flag saw Robbie Farr get the win ahead of Luke Oldfield and Bryan Mann, while Brent Kratzmann managed to get the better of Mitchell Gee in the final few laps to secure fourth. Mitchell Gee almost surrendered fifth to Andrew Wright but managed to bring the Q43 racer home to round out the top five, leaving Wright to settle for sixth. Ryan McNamara finished an impressive seventh after transferring from the B-Main, while Tim Farrell, Aaron Kelly and Mick Sauer completed the top ten. Randy Morgan, Andrew Scheuerle, Anthony Lambert, Mitch Gowland, Nick Whell, Blake Darcy and Karl Hoffmans rounded out the finishers, while Danny Reidy, Kevin Titman and Michael Saller all failed to finish the event.

    Sprintcars Queensland will return to Ausdeck Patios Archerfield Speedway next Saturday night, 30 November 2019 for the next round of the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series. The competition is really starting to heat up, with, so far, a different winner for the each completed round - Kevin Titman, Steven Lines, Andrew Scheuerle and Mitchell Gee - so come and join us and see if we can add one more name to the list of round winners.
