• Last Saturday night at the Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway, it was home town hero Luke Nardini who finally made his way back onto the top step of the podium after about two years, claiming the twenty lap feature win from Chris Dymock and fellow Narrogin resident Glenn Carstairs.
It was a rough and tumble night for some of the Formula 500’s, with Cody Turacchio going upside in heat four after riding a wheel. He miraculously landed on his wheels and didn’t even damage the wing, driving straight off the track, only unable to restart due to a flat tyre. Heat wins went to Turacchio, Jamie Nardini, Chris Dymock and George Eaton.
After the pole shuffle was run, it would be Chris Dymock who qualified to be on the front row of the feature alongside Jamie Nardini, with Luke Nardini and George Eaton sharing the second row.
As the race went green it would be Dymock who grabbed the lead, with Luke Nardini jumping into second and relegating brother Jamie to the third position while Brendon Marshman made his way into fourth place.
Troy Samwell and Ted Street came together early in the race and both would spin infield, but were deemed far enough off the circuit and racing continued around them, both eventually rejoining, albeit a couple of laps down.
The red lights would then come on with nine laps complete after Sam Haythornthwaite and Samwell came together, Haythornthwaite rolling over in turn one. He emerged unhurt and the race would resume once again, Dymock still leading Nardini and Nardini.
Lap after lap Luke Nardini would apply the pressure to Dymock, but he was unable to make any moves, while behind them, Jamie Nardini and Brendon Marshman were having their own battle for third, as were George Eaton and Glenn Carstairs for fifth.
Lap twelve is when things really began to get interesting; first Carstairs, who had been running sixth grabbed fifth from George Eaton, then Luke Nardini made his move on Dymock to grab the lead.
A lap later Carstairs grabbed fourth from Marshman, then three laps later he was able to nab third place as he passed Jamie Nardini.
At this point there were only a handful of laps remaining and the order would remain unchanged, Luke Nardini getting the popular victory from Dymock and Carstairs who were separated by just 0.1 seconds as they crossed the line. Unfortunately, as Dymock went past the chequered flag he rode the wheel of another car and slammed the wall, causing significant damage to the rear end of his once immaculate machine.
With four rounds now complete of the Fuel Distributors of WA West Coast Series, George Eaton is still the overall leader but Chris Dymock has clawed back a few points to now be just seventy points behind in second place with his Ace Card still up his sleeve. Carstairs is another two points further back in third place while Cody Turacchio and Ted Street round out the top five currently.
A huge thankyou to NarroginSpeedway for hosting the Fuel Distributors of WA West Coast Series once again. We hope to return there again next season, but now teams will enjoy a short break in local action as the Australian Formula 500 Championship is held in Victoria before we return to the track two times in three days, at the Perth Motorplex on the 26th and 28th of December!

    Waldron Wins One More!
Last weekend at the Makit Narrogin Speedway Nash Waldron raced his way to his second feature race win of the season in the Junior Formula 500’s.
Waldron was one of just two cars out on the track, but still did a great job to improve each time he hit the track, recording his fastest laps in the third heat, over half a second faster per lap than in his opening heat and knocking five seconds off the total time he recorded in the opener.
Flynn Roser was the other car on the track and he too continued to improve, with lap times improving across the night.
In the six lap feature race, Waldron crossed the line to record a perfect night and the win, while Roser came home in second.
A big thanks once again to Narrogin Speedway for hosting us, as well as to GlenbraeHaytranswho came on board to support the Junior Formula 500’s for the night with some prizes.
We also thanks all those who are supporting the 2019/20 Fuel Distributors of WA West Coast Series, proudly presented by JC Performance Cylinder Heads, Auto One Margaret River, MPS Tree Services, Burson Auto Parts Myaree, Stainless Fastner Supplies, Mark House, Alltorque Engineering, Empire Graphics, BRM Kart Australia, Electrical Trade Union WA, Pirtek Newman, Opal Finance and IGA Three Springs.
