• Premier Speedway Club, Warrnambool – PRESS RELEASE

    Re: COVID-19 Pandemic

Like the rest of our Nation, the Management and Board of the Premier Speedway Club, Warrnambool have been continually monitoring the ever-changing landscape that is the world we currently live in.

A part of this process has involved discussions with relevant Government Departments, Local Council, Speedway Australia and relevant Key Stakeholders in our sport including the likes of Ambulance Victoria, Official and Competitor Groups.

These discussions along with recent announcements relating to Public Gatherings, potential penalties for hosting such events and the continued uncertainty surrounding the coming days, weeks and months ahead, leaves the Club in the tough position of cancelling all remaining Speedway Events at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

This will include the previously scheduled meetings for Friday March 27, 2020, Saturday March 28, 2020 and Sunday April 12, 2020.
This decision has been made in accordance with current Government legislation and in the best general health interests of all of our Members, Officials, Competitors and Race Fans.

To our event partners Warrnambool 4x4 and ARB, Anderson Bob-Cat Service and the Gillin Boys Foundation along with our Track Premiership Partners Parr Motorsports, we extend our apologies for not being able to complete our racing program, due to a situation that is simply beyond our control.

The Premier Speedway Club has explored a number of alternative ways in which the sport could possibly continue to showcase our sport, however the potential for further long-term implications to the future of the Club and the Venue far outweigh any shorter-term positive that may be derived from such moves.

We, as a Club, share in the frustration, that will be evident following these cancellations, we too love the sport and that is why our volunteers and officials do what they do. However all we can now hope for is that this current situation improves rapidly so that we can all look forward to the 2020-2021 season kicking off as scheduled in November 2020.

In the meantime we urge each and every one of you to continue to take the necessary precautions as outlined for this Pandemic as we look forward to seeing you at a race track again in the not too distant future.

At this time our on-line ticketing will remain suspended and all pre-purchased on-line ticket purchases for the events listed above will be refunded.

    Stay Safe Everyone.
