• An exciting night at Avalon Raceway for the Grand Final of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series was won by Will Carroll ahead of Brett Milburn with Tate Frost managing his third successive podium finish with the series while Matthew Reed became an eight time series champ as he scored enough point to claim the overall series win ahead of Terry Rankin.

Carroll’s night was superb as he scorched through the bronze and silver shootouts before being the quickest car in the gold shootout enabling him to start the 30 lap A-main from pole position after entering the shootouts in sixth on points.

From the drop of the green Carroll slotted into second behind early pace setter Brett Milburn who set about opening up a slight advantage over Carroll with Tate Frost quickly advancing into the third spot ahead of Corey McCullagh who was subbing in the G&C Forestry entry for Dane Court.

Milburn was running an excellent mid to three quarter line however Carroll was able to work his way through to the lead in heavy traffic and never look back however the top four cars were very evenly matched throughout the final.

Frost was a big mover as he attempted to get passed Milburn for the runner up spot however the pair traded positions before eventually settling back into a rhythm as the race unfolded with relatively little stoppages apart from the opening lap.

Exiting turn 2 there was a number of cars involved that claimed Ashley Cook with a broken brake calliper, Jack Lee with damage and also Cameron Waters who were all involved as there was contact ahead and these drivers plus Matthew Reed were left with nowhere to go.

Fortunately, Reed was able to refire albeit with a collapsed front wing however that was all he needed as he was able to circulate and accumulate enough points to finish the series in first place overall.

As the checkers dropped it was a triumphant win to Carroll ahead of Milburn and Tate Frost with McCullagh finishing a solid fourth as the top four cars were almost nose to tail as they crossed the line.

Finishing a strong fifth was Adam King while Grant Stansfield was good in sixth ahead of Josh Buckingham who impressed for the second week in a row.

Jordyn Charge finished next while Terry Rankin finished with a ninth place ahead of Jordyn Rae in tenth. Rae’s finish was enough to jump him into third over Cook who failed to finish the final.

Just outside of the top 10 was Grant Anderson with Brody Appleby, Chris Solomon and Matthew Reed rounding out the finishers.

Among those drivers failing to finish were Jamie Veal, Waters, Lee and Ashley Cook.

Earlier Jack Lee was impressive as he won the B-main ahead of Reed who had to work his way into the A-main to contend for the overall series crown.

The C-main was won by Tim Hutchins ahead of Terry Kelly and Eddie Lumbar.

Heat wins went to Josh Buckingham, Grant Stansfield, Adam King and Will Carroll.

Heat group fast qualifiers were Grant Anderson, Frost, McCullagh and Veal.
