• Goulburn Speedway produced another sensational race track on Saturday night for the Compact Speedcars to again produce some exciting side by side racing.

Travelling up from Victoria were Johnny Kyriacou, Joe Lostitch and Chris Curran. Chris unfortunately suffered fuel problems all night which prevented him from doing any real laps in anger.

Heat 1 was run on a greasy track which made the action pretty exciting for the drivers and the spectators. Joe Lostitch and ACT's Con Buurveld had a great battle in the early stages before the yellows were waved for Stephen Hawksworth and Tony Aulsebrook. Aulsebrook suffered night ending front end damage. Buurveld narrowly took the win from a fast approaching Rob Eyeington and Craig Hickey. Lostitch faded to 4th with Darren Margules having a great run to place 5th.

The track had now settled in for heat 2 with a fast and wide surface for the Compacts to display some awesome two and three wide action. Johnny Kyriacou made some brilliant outside passes to take over the lead from travelling partner Lostitch with half race distance to run. Kyriacou won the heat, which ran flag to flag, from Rob Eyeington and Craig Hickey. Lee Stokes broke a radius rod bolt which had him watching the action from the infield after only two laps.

Craig Hickey recorded his second feature win of the season after a brilliant start from the back saw him take over the lead from Lostitch on lap three. His only threat came when the yellows were displayed for Shannon Wilson who had caught the puddle on the inside of turn 4. That challenge came by the way of Rob Eyeington who tried a couple of moves on the leader over the closing laps to no avail.

Johnny Kyriacou stood upon the podium for the second time this season greeting the checkers in 3rd. Lostitch was 4th with Lee Stokes coming to terms with the new found power of the Suzuki placing 5th.

"B" grade points trophies, kindly donated by EMPIRE BEDS were awarded to Darren Margules 1st, Lee Stokes 2nd and Stephen Hawksworth 3rd.

Thanks to MAVLON, three drums of fuel were won by Chris Curran, Darren Margules and Stephen Hawksworth.
