• Owen Milton started off the Victorian Mini Sprints ‘Gold Cup’ series with a feature race win at Nyora Raceway on November the 30th after having not the greatest start to the season in heat racing with it all coming together when it mattered.

With twelve race drivers starting the nights racing Milton knew to expect a tough night especially with Kevin Bomford in good form along with Ian Jones & Stuart Ferguson amongst others in the field. Having an earth lead come off the car prior to heat one starting was a terrible start for Milton who tried everything to get the car to fire up. Milton had to sit out the race as took the win.

Having fixed the earthing issue Milton carried some frustration into heat two where he began out of pole position with Ferguson alongside. Ferguson got the better start and Milton couldn’t catch him running second with Bomford in third place.

Milton spoke after the race” Well done to Ferguson he did what he had us in that one. I was over driving my car maybe the frustration from missing the first heat got to me. Dads told me to pull my head in so we will see how we go in the final.”

After bolting on two brand new Hoosiers on the rear of the car, Milton lined up in fourth on the grid.

During the roll around laps Milton picked out a line he was going to take through turn one and two.

When the green flag dropped Milton went high and drove around the outside of Jones & Ferguson in the first two corners and set about chasing Bomford where he got the drive off turn four and drove around the # 32 car up the front straight into turn one again taking the lead.

Milton was out front for ten laps with the field chasing before the caution flag came out when Owen Bulman spun in turn four. At the restart Milton led again with Ferguson behind him before pulling out with mechanical issues. From there Milton went on to win the race by half a lap and coming up behind third place. Milton defeated Bomford and Jones.

Happy with the win Milton reflected. “The car was hooked up a lot. Dad had the car set up fast and straight. Thanks to Kol & Jake from JJM Turbo World who helped out on the night also, did a great job. Well done to Bomford & Jones on their places, the season is going to be real tough.”
