• Excitement is growing in Street Stock ranks with the big Castrol Fist Full of Dollars – Holden v Ford Challenge at Alexandra Speedway getting ever so close and as race day nears nominations are up to forty plus drivers keen to see if they can not only do their car make proud in a Holden v Ford battle but walk away with a cool $3000- if they can take the overall win across the line.

The Alexandra Speedway Club along with Street Stock racer Darren Forrest have been working tirelessly to put the show together with the very best drivers from Victoria & South Australia all putting in their nominations to be there on December the 14th.

Each driver will compete in three qualifying heat races before the top ten Holden & top ten Ford point scorers will be automatically qualified to enter the final.
Five more drivers in finishing order will join the back of the pack after transferring from the B Main.

The top twenty in the feature field will line up with Fords in one line and Holden’s in another and compete in twenty laps before ‘half time’ will be called. Anybody that completes 50% of the first segment and has to pull out of the race can fix their car during the 25 minute half time break and re-join the field on the lead lap from the back of the pack for the second segment of twenty laps.

During the half time drivers can tinker with their cars however are not permitted to open their bonnet or top up oils and will line up facing the crowd and their crew will work on the cars facing the crowd. Announcers Dean Thompson & Dale Matthews will be walking up and down the drivers having brief chats with drivers and crew to inform the crowd of what the driver thinks at this point and what they need to change.

Castrol Australia have been secured as naming rights supporter for this year and all involved are delighted to have their support and along with the naming rights support Lilydale’s Heritage Holden and Yarra Ranges Ford have come on board as the brand supporters and each are determined to have their car make out do the other.

Alexandra club member Darren Forrest will be having his car stickered with the Heritage Holden decals whilst Dylan Campton also from Alexandra will have his car decaled with Yarra Ranges Ford stickers in a show of gratitude for the business support.

Over the coming days as the media releases keep coming driver announcements will be made however to give you a snippet here is five names released to get discussion started:

    Australia # 1 – Robbie Faux
    NT 5 – Justin Brumfield
    MG 21 –Mark Jennings
    AX 29 – Mick Chrystie
    AX 71 – Daniel Barton

The ‘Faux Train’ Robbie Faux was the big winner last season and has been keen to come down to Alexandra for some time now and with his division the feature act it has all fall into place with the big man to bring his Ford down to lead the charge around the 640 metre venue.

Justin Brumfield has had a strong start to the season with a third place recently in the Northern Territory title at Arunga Park finishing behind Anthony Beare and Donald Irving. Brumfield always presents a beautifully manicured race car and has a go out their on the dirt. Watch out for the NT # 5.

Mark Jennings is a three times South Australian State Champion back in the 90s and is still a gun driver today. It’s been a while a while since Mark has been in the spot light but don’t discount that from happening at the Fist Full of Dollars.

Mick Chrystie was once a Victoria # 2 and Australia # 5 place getter in Street Stocks and has in recent seasons been dabbling in Standard Saloon racing. After a 5th place at last years Victorian Standard Saloon title Chrystie has stepped back into Street Stocks which is set with growing numbers to become the big deal at Alexandra Speedway.

Daniel Barton a former national Street Stock champion has almost completely been out of the scene with business and family commitments keeping him from behind the wheel and now thanks to the support of Justin Pearson & Healesville Directional Drilling, Barton is back big to hustle at the front. Barton was almost a winner at Alexandra last meeting until the back end broke and he found the concrete.

Alexandra Speedway Club is grateful for the events supporters:
    Castrol Australia
    Heritage Holden
    Yarra Ranges Ford
    Campton Graphix
