• Dale Walsh returned to winning ways after a very successful season last year when he took out the final at Avalon Raceway last Saturday the 7th of December when he led home Michael Coad and Mathew O’Shannassy.

In the first heat of the night Darryl Nelson was able to use his pole position to break clear of the field to take convincing win ahead of O’Shannassy and Walsh third. Coad was able to greet the flag first in the second heat leading home Jason Grayland and Wayne Williams. Heat three it was Walsh who lead from Green to checker taking the win ahead of Coad and Paul Singleton.

The line up for the final saw the front row made up of Coad and Walsh, with the second row of O’Shannassy and Williams, they were followed by Grayland, Nelson, Singleton, Jeffrey McDonald, Robert Richardson and Craig Devlin. Allan Pitcher who was debuting a brand new car was unable to take the field in the final due to engine problems, Williams was also absent from the final when his engine refused to fire.

From the drop of the green it was Coad who made the best of the starts when he led away from Walsh, with O’Shannassy in third. Coad was able to drive a tight line to hold off the relentless Walsh, however on lap eight he drifted high allowing Walsh through to the lead. They continued in this fashion to the chequered flag with Walsh dominant and Coad having to settle for second place ahead of O’Shannassy, they were followed by Grayland, Nelson, Richardson, McDonald, Singleton and Devlin.

The Super Rods will now head to Darlington’s Mid Western Speedway for round 2 of the Track Championship before a break over the Christmas period.
