The Victorian Mini Sprint Club headed to Drouin Speedway on Sunday the 8th of December to compete in the Mighty Mouse Magic in honour of the driver of the Mighty Mouse race car that kids used to love to see in Mini Modified racing in Gippsland, Colin Lindell.

In a event that the President of Mini Sprints pledged to work with the club and make bigger in years to come it would be he who went on to win the race with Stuart Ferguson piloting the # 4 Bass Motors, Nissan powered race car across the line ahead of Kevin Bomford, Bangholme race driver Bulman (# 7 Sign Matters Dandenong – Yamaha R1), Peter Schnoor & Ben McCLeary.

After a moments silence at the beginning of the race program to honour Lindell and a missing man formation just prior to the green flag in heat one the current Victorian Champion Owen Milton blitzed the field to win in a fitting tribute to a driver who also held the Vic # 1 plate at one time. Milton beat Ferguson, Bomford, Bulman, McCLeary & Werribee driver Schnoor in his Toyota 4Age powered car.

Ferguson then out drove the bunch in the second heat taking a win ahead of Bomford (Elite Metals # 32), Milton, Schnoor, McCleary & Bulman who dropped to the tail of the field with electrical drama.

For the feature race everybody was expecting an exciting race between Ferguson & Milton who began from the front of the pack. Milton got the better start and it wasn’t long before he was putting big distance between he and the rest. Bomford and Bulman had there own great battle right through the day and that continued on in the final and likewise Schnoor and Altona Meadows racer McCLeary behind them.

Milton (# 1 JJM Turboworld) with a ten car length lead soon turned the race on its head when he ended up on his lid after sliding backwards hard through the third turn and into the concrete before flipping over. Ferguson then skipped away to his own lead in front of Bomford, Bulman, Schnoor and McCleary and held that lead right to race end taking out the first Mighty Mouse Magic.

The winner then had something to say about feature Mighty Mouse Magic events at presentation. “We look forward to talking with the Drouin Speedway Club and making an important event once again next season. It is great to win the first Might Mouse Magic to honour one of our own and at the same time sad to have to be honouring Colin Lindell today. I hope that Sue, Bianca and the family can think fondly of the first Mighty Mouse Magic event and Colin today.”
