Lookout race fans, there is another Morrison on Gippsland Speedway tracks and like dad she steers a XF Falcon in the Standard Saloon division in the Junior ranks so keep an eye out for ten year old Ally Morrison during this season as she shows up dad with a driving style all of her own.

With Ally already having a good showing at Nyora and Drouin Speedways in recent weeks people already can see great potential in this former Junior Quarter Midget racer now steering a big Ford around the dirt tracks.

Ally performed well in her first Sedan race meeting at Nyora in what was a series round for the LV Core & Saw Junior Standard Saloon series finishing sixth in her first Sedan race meeting before again finishing sixth in her next race at Drouin Speedway for round one of the Junior Standard Saloon track championship at that venue.

Following in her former Victorian Champion fathers tyre tracks is going to be a interesting journey for Ally as her father Dale is either a winner or a showman on the track and doesn’t leave spectators short changed when it comes to action.

The # 13 car with Ally driving has already met the concrete wall during racing and Ally was keen to get back on with the racing because she hasn’t hit the wall like she has seen dad do in the Crash N Bash division and her car wasn’t even close to the condition Dads car was last time he raced at Drouin. It is fair to say at the age of 10 Ally is probably a more accomplished driver than dad would have been at age ten.

So far Ally is enjoying being in amongst it with the other kids in Standard Saloons. “Thanks to my family I get to have a little fun that most kids don’t get to do on weekends, I go to school on Monday and can say I raced a car and everybody else went shopping or played cricket. Racing is fun and lucky for me dad fixes the dints that other people or I make on the car. Thanks Dad!”

For the rest of the season Ally looks set to finish out the Junior Sedan series in Gippsland with a few more rounds to go and possibly the track championship at Drouin & the Victorian title this year at Bairnsdale Speedway Club and dad might share the car with her by racing it a few times also.
