• Big Events like the Castrol Fist Full of Dollars Holden vs. Ford Challenge always throw up surprises in the qualifying field come feature time, whether it be somebody who has stayed out of trouble and finished all their heats mid pack or whether they be somebody that just isn’t expected to make the final yet does and the big Street Stock feature at Alexandra Speedway is sure to dish up something similar this Saturday night.

So who could really surprise everybody in such a great field?

DMT Sports Media gives us five scenarios that could happen.

    DANIEL BARTON WINS
Driving the Healesville Directional Drilling Commodore, Daniel Barton a once national champion has been concentrating on business and family and this season is set to enjoy some more regular racing for himself thanks to the sponsorship support he has. ‘Bart’ was real quick at the first meeting at Alexandra and with a run under his belt at the venue he just might surprise the gun drivers from recent seasons.

    DARREN FORREST TOP FIVE
Darren is just one person that has put a heck of an effort into making this event happen. He is a passionate speedway man and a wonderful Alexandra club person. The sponsorships he has found, the communication he has been making and the ideas he has been sharing all go towards making this event potentially the best of the year. Darren currently Victoria # 3 in Standard Saloons is very capable at his home venue of pulling out a top five finish in his ex Ferguson family race car.

CHIEF STEWARD COULD TELL RICK SANKEY TO GO OVER AND DRIVE INTO THE FIRE TRUCK
You can hear it now “Sankey, I want you to drive over to the ambulance and drive into the back of it.”
Why would Tricky Ricky do that though? Well on the basis the steward thinks he hit everything else he might as well go hit the ambo as it is the only thing left that he hasn’t hit. – Fire Truck / Warrnambool, Water Truck / Redline.

    Just kidding Rickster!

LADY RACER FINISHES IN TOP TEN OF THE FEATURE RACE
absolutely possible, Brooke Ferguson is in the field! Not to mention Emma Bansemer & Megan Cheeseman also. Ferguson is the more accomplished racer from the three and it is a definite possibility that she will be right up their and amongst for the girls.

    SOUTH AUSTRALIAN TOP THREE
Heaven forbid if it were to happen. What on earth would the Victorians do to ever forget the result. However with Lloyd Wallace, Mark Jennings, Steve Gartner, Anthony Beare, Jason Duell who can drive Alexandra Speedway well & Darren Flatman in the field it would tough to rule any of them out of being a fair dinkum chance of winning the big race!

Well done to Darren Forrest & Dylan Campton for their promotion of the sponsors for the big event. Below you see a picture of Dylan’s race car with signs for Yarra Ranges Ford on his car ready for the weekend. The car has been on display at the business and the local papers have been down to check things out. And the same for Darren down at Heritage Holden with his race car. Way to go boys.
