• Ryan Skennar last Saturday night at Archerfield Speedway became the first driver to win more than one feature race in the 2013-14 season for the Brisbane Formula 500 Club.

After the opening Tyrepower 600 Series round went the way of Mick Pronger, followed by the second round to Charlie Brown, then the third round to Skennar and the fourth round to Kristin Brown, Skennar managed to win the club show feature race.

Skennar’s victory came with a bit of good fortune falling his way, after pacesetters Kristin Brown and Cody Maroske collided in the closing stages, and it led to the pair getting sent rear of the field, when he inherited the lead as a result, and was able to make the most of the opportunity and claim the victory.

In what was a great Formula 500 debut, Brooke Wanless finished in second place on the podium. Wanless, whose previous speedway experience was in Wingless Sprints, took to the Formula 500s very well, and was rewarded with a pleasing podium finish.

Dan Scougall was one of the leading drivers earlier in the heat races, and capped his night by rounding out the podium in third.

After getting sent to the rear of the field, highest point score heading into the feature race and pole sitter Kristin Brown worked her way up to fourth at the fall of the chequered flag. Grant Harvey rounded out the top-five finishers.

Maroske had crossed the finish line in second behind Skennar, but was disqualified from the results due to failing to go to the rear of the field after the controversial collision with Brown. Earlier in the night, Maroske had gone into the feature race as the equal highest point scorer with Brown. However, he had started from position two in the feature race due to Brown recording the fastest lap of the two in the heat races.

In the earlier heat races, wins were shared between Maroske, Kristin Brown and Scougall.

The Tyrepower 600 Series will return to Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night, February 15 for their fifth round.
