• The 2013/2014 National Super Sedan Series will once again kick off with the annual Queensland Cup, a series-within-a-series that rewards the top contracted and non-contracted drivers at the conclusion of the two Queensland rounds of the national tournament. Generously supported once again by the Queensland Saloon Car Association, the Queensland Cup will certainly provide additional incentive for drivers to take part in the opening two rounds of competition.

In addition to the prizemoney and contingencies on offer at each round, the driver leading the NSSS championship at the conclusion of the opening two rounds will receive a fantastic trophy courtesy of the Queensland Saloon Car Association. Of course, the leading non-contracted driver at the conclusion of the two Queensland rounds will also be presented with a spectacular Queensland Cup trophy.

New South Welshman Lachlan Onley will no doubt be determined to retain the Queensland Cup title he won last season to again secure an early advantage in the chase for the overall NSSS crown. However, with Australian champion Matt Pascoe, defending NSSS titleholder Darren Kane and 14 contracted drivers equally determined to emerge with the QSCA Queensland Cup and the series lead, the scene is set for a cracking start to the championship chase.

Of the non-contracted drivers, defending Queensland Cup holder Steve Pearce is expected to be amongst the nominations in a bid to become the first driver to secure the trophy in consecutive years. However, the competition will be strong with the likes of three-time New South Wales champion Wayne Brims just one of the drivers who will be challenging for the title.

The opening round of the 2013/2014 QSCA Queensland Cup will be staged at the Toowoomba Speedbowl on Sunday, December 29, with round two to be decided at Gympie’s Mothar Mountain Speedway on Tuesday, December 31.

National Super Sedan Series organisers extend their appreciation to the Queensland Saloon Car Association for their continued support of the Queensland Cup and the NSSS championship.
