• GOLD COAST (Dec 31, 2013)-Bunbury (WA)-based Speedcar Pilot Dayne Kingshott fought his way to a third-place finish in Round 4 of the Polar Ice Midget Series at the Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night (Dec 28).

Driving the Neilson Motorsport Esslinger-powered Aggressor, Kingshott (pictured) bounced back from a DNF in his opening heat race to find himself on the podium at the end of the night.

" The main thing I didn't want to do was to crash the car first time out, I just wanted to finish" said Kingshott post-race. " I got stuck behind a few cars that were a bit slower than me and they were hard to get around, but once I got past them I made up some ground on the leaders . It was one of those things, if the race was another five laps then who knows!"

Indeed Kingshott was lucky to even complete the main event, with the right-rear shock mount hanging from the chassis at the end of the 25-lap final.

After time-trailing fourth fastest, Kingshott's recorded a DNF in his opening heat and a third in his second qualifier, enough to earn him a fourth-row (7th) starting position. He was left ruing what might have been however, with his opening lap tangle with a spinning car to prove costly.

" It would have defiantly been nicer to start further up the front after we got a bit unlucky in the first heat . If we had of started a bit further up the front I think we could have made a bit more of a challenge for them"

Kingshott earned valuable Polar Ice Series points for regular Neilson Motorsport driver Michael Kendall, who was in New Zealand competing in the POWRi Midget World Series rounds at Auckland's Western Springs Speedway. Kendall returns to the drivers seat for the next round of the Polar Ice Series on Friday January 10 at the Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway.

" Dayne did a great job for us and he defiantly showed why he is one of the top drivers in the country " offered car owner Dwayne Neilson. " The car is straight, Dayne put it on the podium and we banked some valuable Polar Ice points, so we couldn't be happier"
