The final dose of open wheeled action will be dished up this Sunday afternoon (June 12) with a non-points Wingless Sprint Feature, presented by Chris Evans Transport, being conducted at the Sunline Speedway at Waikerie this Queens Birthday Long Weekend. In what will be a real state of origin contest the 10 car field will be made up of five South Australian drivers with the remaining five entries coming from across the Victorian border.
The South Australian contingent has a local Riverland feel with Murray region residents Daniel Obst, who will make a return to the class after spending most of the season campaigning in the Super Sedan ranks, and other local Jason Gantz. Rounding out the South Australian contingent will be impressive rookie Joel Heinrich, in his #32 Triple X, “The Prez” Darryl Sloan and Dale Gesell, who will be back behind the wheel of his #13 for the first time after a lengthy stint on the sidelines.
The Victorian nominations are from just across the border at Mildura with the list being spearheaded by Jason Bolitho and Jay Brown, who have both had a very competitive season at their home track. Joining them will be the Father and Daughter duo of Anthony and Melissa McMillian while Ben Pollock (pictured), who made his Wingless Sprint debut at the same venue back in May, will round out the interstate drivers.
With the final race meeting on the South Australian Speedway season calendar being a day show, the first event is scheduled to begin at 12pm so if you are intending to get your final fuel fix of the 2015/16 season make sure you get to the track early and enjoy a fun family Winter’s day out.
Also the SA Wingless club have scheduled their AGM for 3pm Saturday 25th June 2016, for details visit the club’s website or Facebook pages.
