• Last night (Friday January 6) Adelaide Motorsport Park held meeting #7 of the 2016/17 season with the Wingless Sprints and V6 Sprints featuring. The event was held in hot and dry conditions which unfortunately kept the car and crowd numbers down but the racing was still quite entertaining with South Australian Wingless Sprint Champion Joel Chadwick mastering the dry slick conditions to win the 20-lap feature while Chris James emerged the winner in the V6 Sprints.

After winning his final heat finishing behind Darryl Sloan in heat two Chadwick was the top qualifier and he was never headed in the final defeating Michael Spoljaric and William Caruso. After starting on the front row Sloan failed to finish the final after Spencer Taylor spun in front of Sloan as they battled for second leaving Sloan no other option but to slam the turn four wall. Matthew Kennedy, Bronson Mauro and Aaron Doe were the only other finishers.

The V6 Sprint feature was reduced to 15 laps and it actually made for a better race as Chris James stormed from position six in the starting order to win ahead of State Champion Nick Hall, who started from position 10. Third across the line was pole sitter Greg Bell with Danny Pauley and John MacKenzie completing the top 5.

In the remaining classes Wayne Vickers was an easy winner of the AMCA Nationals final as he defeated the retiring Steve Letts and rookie Jeremy Fenner. Earlier the heat winners were Jason Robinson, Letts and Heath Gustafsson.

The remaining class on the program, the Street Stocks, was an all the way win for Paul Hayes as he edged out Carey Weston, Cade Cox, Ben Tuttle and Andrew Hardacre.

The next event on the Adelaide Motorsport Park calendar will be on January 14 with the running of the 2017 South Australian Wingless Sprint Championship.
