• Why do we have a long weekend every Easter? For Sprintcar racing of course and this year is no exception with the Clay-Per-View Easter Triple Challenge once again set to be unleashed across three tracks over three consecutive nights of racing from April 14 to 16. The series will be decided on three distinctly different circuits and, for the first time, will visit two states, as drivers chase the $4000 series winner’s purse that is on offer in addition to the minimum $4000 paid to the winner of each individual round. In fact, should anybody be able to clean sweep all three nights, they will collect a cool $18 000 for their efforts.

The 2017 Clay-Per-View Easter Triple Challenge will get underway at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway on Good Friday (April 14), with round two to be decided at Ausdeck Patios Archerfield Speedway on Saturday, April 15. This year, the final round of racing will be decided at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway in northern New South Wales on Sunday, April 16. Three distinctly different circuits that will prove a true test of drivers and crews alike as they chase the ideal set-up each night that will carry them to the front of what is expected to be a stellar field.

Each night of competition will kick off with time trials as cars race against the clock in groups of four, seeking to record the quickest lap and score maximum points. Two rounds of heats will follow with an 8-car inversion in each heat race, with points from time trials and the heats combined to determine the starting order for the main events. The top 16 pointscorers will qualify directly into the 40-lap feature event, with the remaining drivers to contest the B Main and/or C Main depending on their overall position at the completion of the heats. The drivers who qualify in positions 1 to 8 will contest the Pole Shootout over three rounds, with the winner of the Gold Shootout securing pole position in the big show.

Given the influx of new drivers in Queensland this season, along with all the established stars of the region and the interstate drivers expected to take on defending Triple Challenge champion Robbie Farr, strong fields are expected to contest each round. From the high banks of the reconfigured Toowoomba track to the tight confines of Queensland’s home of Sprintcar racing at Archerfield to the circular showground layout in Lismore, winning this series will require talent, tenacity, preparation and maybe just a little bit of luck.

This is a great opportunity for teams to test themselves on different tracks, secure exposure for their sponsors and pick up some prizemoney along the way.
