• With only one round remaining in the 2016/17 Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Queensland Mitchell Motorsport’s team driver Danny Reidy has climbed his way inside the top three in the overall points chase following a fifth placed run on the Toowoomba high banks last Saturday night. After fighting his way out of the B-Main Reidy charged from position eighteen to eventually finish the main event in fifth.

With the event doubling as round 4 of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Chase the local field was bolstered by several drivers from intestate with a total of 27 cars fronting for action including the likes of Robbie Farr, Max, Mitch and Matt Dumesny, Shaun Dobson and Sammy Walsh.

Following Time Trials Robbie Farr set a blistering lap to top the time sheets but it was extremely close with only a half a second separating 2nd and 22nd. Danny timed the Eagle Silicone Leads / Penrite #19 in nineteenth and would start heat one on a lightning fast track from position seven. With the track hard to pass on Danny would make up one position to finish in sixth.

Heat two was an opportunity to gain some well needed points and after starting from position two he greeted the flag in second therefore Danny just missed the direct transfer into the A and would come from position two in the B main. After successfully

After successfully transferring in the final Danny had it all to do in the 30 lap A-Main starting from position eighteen. Shortly after the start some great driving and quick reflexes saw Danny miss an early wreck on the back straight on the opening lap. After a lengthy delay to remove the damaged cars, the race was restarted, with Danny constantly moving forward in the race with a tremendous drive. At one stage, he was up as high as fourth but he ultimately greeted the chequered flag in fifth position.

“The team continues to fight for a podium in the Queensland USC which is what we set out to achieve at the start of the year. With the last round on Easter Friday the 14th April we are in a good position but we still have a lot of work to do” added Team Owner Peter Mitchell.
