David Murcott one of three A Main race leaders continued his good from at Heartland Raceway last night when he took the win in round two of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series on a very racy track that was used from the bottom to the top all night long. Matthew Dumesny recovered from an early race spin to climb thru the field to take second place while Rusty Hickman claimed third place after a sterling drive from fifteenth starting position.

The A Main event had its share of dramas and disappointments before the race settled down just over the half way mark.

Jamie Veal won pole position by setting fastest time in the top six shootout, Matthew Dumesny went forward in the shootout to line up beside Veal leaving top points scorer David Murcott to start from position three. From position four was Tim Hutchins followed by Jordyn Charge and Jake Smith to round out the top six.

The A Main field was set with Brett Milburn and Glen Sutherland filling row four to be followed by Charles Hunter, Domain Ramsay, Scott Reilly, Jye Okeeffe and the last chance B Main transferring drivers of Sam Walsh, Marcus Dumesny who had to do a motor change after his second heat before the B Main, next was Rusty Hickman who dropped a heat race with a broken driveline, rounding out the final transferring drivers were Brayden Willmington, Jessie Attard and Eddie Lumbar.

Down to business with the green flag waved to start the Eureka Garages & Sheds A Main event and Jamie Veal lead the pack away from Matthew Dumesny, David Murcott, Tim Hutchins, Jake Smith and Jordyn Charge who filled the top six places. One lap down and the red light was on, with a tight field going down the back straight on lap two contact between a few drivers was made that would see Domain Ramsay roll and out of the race. Sam Walsh also pulled infield with a problem.

Back under way and Veal lead the pack once again when nearing the completion of lap two Matthew Dumesny spun in turn four up high leaving Murcott nowhere to go but somehow Dumesny just managed to keep the car going while Murcott had a slight touch with the wall and the spinning Dumesny but also managed to keep his machine running, both drivers would lose a few positions on the track. Jake Smith kept clear of the Dumesny and Murcott show to take over second place while Tim Hutchins also gained a few spots to be in third place by the end of lap two.

It was not long and both Murcott & Dumesny were back on the move but Hutchins quickly passed Smith to take second place while Veal continued leading in a dominate fashion.

Rusty Hickman wasn’t wasting any time early in the race and had picked off a few positions to be into ninth place when the next caution period came on.

Underway once more and again Jamie Veal was in control moving away from the pack that would see Tim Hutchins, Matthew Dumesny and David Murcott battling hard for third place, while these drivers worked each other over Glen Sutherland was moving into the picture ahead of both Brett Milburn and Rusty Hickman when disaster struck for Veal at one third race distance when he caught a lapped car and had slight contact high on the track that would see the V35 machine stopped against the wall.

Veal was sent to the rear of the field for the restart leaving Hutchins, Murcott and Dumesny to fight it out for the lead on the restart. Hutchins would lead the next lap when a slide job war started between both Hutchins and Murcott, each lap Murcott would lead the lap before eventually opening a gap on Hutchins who now had Dumesny working him over.

While the main action was going on up front both Rusty Hickman and Marcus Dumesny were moving thru the pack and mixing it with Glen Sutherland and Brett Milburn in another very entertaining battle.

All eyes were now on Jamie Veal to see if he could drive thru the field and what a show he was putting on but unfortunately it all come to halt when Jamie had moved himself thru the field to be in eight place in one and half laps but contact with the wall in the middle of turns three and four would see Veal roll and out of the race.

Murcott now had Matthew Dumesny on his tail for the restart but within a few laps Murcott put a lapped car between himself and Matthew Dumesny to open a slight gap. Hickman was still on the move taking third place from Hutchins, Sutherland was now into fifth ahead of Milburn and the fast finishing Marcus Dumesny.

But there was no stopping David Murcott who took the win in the V88 machine, to make it his second straight will at Heartland Raceway. Matthew Dumesny drove a strong race to take second place ahead of the hard charger Rusty Hickman who passed twelve cars on his way to a well deserved third place. Tim Hutchins crossed the line in fourth place and also took over the lead of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Series points, Glen Sutherland was next home in fifth from the current Eureka Series Champion Brett Milburn who rounded on the top six.

Marcus Dumesny drove well to take seventh, rounding the finishers were Jye Okeeffe, Jacob Smith, Charles Hunter, Scott Reilly who raced most of the race with a broken right front shocker, Jesse Attard finished in twelfth position followed by Braydan Willmington, Jordyn Charge and Eddie Lumbar.

The B Main was conducted over fifteen laps that was taken out by Sam Walsh from Marcus Dumesny, Rusty Hickman, Braydan Willmington, Jessie Attard and Eddie Lumbar.

Stephen Spark took the win in the C Main from Kim Becker and Bobby Daly who transferred to back of the B Main.
