• Street Stock competitors this weekend will have to battle across two days with five heats each competitors before one of them will be crowned the ‘Ipta Fibreglass King of the Mount’ and the defending King and Australian champion Anthony Beare will be back to see if he can hold on to his crown on a weekend that includes Sprintcars and a Late Model Sedan feature to keep the crowds baying for more.

The Street Stock field is over fifty cars with racers from right across Victoria, a few from South Australia and one from Western Australia. Beare is the on paper favourite for the majority of fans before he even arrives in the pit enclosure and wheels the car off the trailer. However the field includes plenty of competitors who are a real potential winner if things go their way.

The biggest two to speak of are Brad McClure and Mark Jennings both former national champions in the class. The two have been running around in Stockies for years and they have a large following of fans each too. McClure a Redline member is hoping for a change of luck and winning this weekend is a shot in the arm he needs.

Jacob Mills from the North East of Victoria is another driver who recently qualified incredibly well at the Australian title, local racers or club members such as Darren Giacometti, Kye Walters, Shaun Henry, Jason Degoldi, Darryl Atkinson, Mick Hetherington fresh off a win last meeting and Mick Clark will be amongst the hard chargers at the front of the field.

Then add in Corey Sandow, Jayden Edwards, David Barrie who stormed throw the field at the last race meeting and Lenny Bates and you have a hard task ahead of you at picking a winner this weekend.

Street Stocks will be the headline event on both days with Sprintcars on the Saturday and Late Model Sedans on the Sunday their co-headliners.

Sprintcar action with support from ‘Hennessy Transport’ will see the new Victorian champion Mark Laity and the runner up from that title at Nyora Raceway Adam Greenwood, up against the likes of Wayne Nicholls a proven Sprintcar campaigner, Dennis Jones who swaps between the Victorian Sprintcar Association class and the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria class and Shane Steenholdt in what should be a enthralling feature race on Saturday night, can they go faster than the 12.2 seconds a lap that they ran last time they came to Redline?

V8 Thunder Sedans are also back on Saturday night after a number of competitors have repaired their cars after a huge crash damaged three of them at the last race meeting.

On Sunday the ‘Forte Engineering Late Model Sedans Firecracker 5000’ race will also be a cracker, Cameron Pearson has a great history at Redline winning his first ever feature in this class at the track in one of these 700 to 900hp beasts when he wasn’t even old enough to drive on the roads.

Brad Smith from Tasmania, Steve Vaughan from Adelaide, Brett Watson from Queensland and Todd Bayley and Wade Carter from New South Wales bring a interstate flavour to the field and Smith in particular should give Pearson a hard time whilst Victorians Brock Edwards, Gary Bryans and Graham Forte have proven they can muscle these machines around with the best of them, plus giving the field a international flavour, New Zealand woman Kristin Vermuelen is starting to put herself in the frame when it comes to podium position results.

Sundays show also includes the Sports Sedans with almost twenty cars for this meeting. A handful of drivers need this meeting in order to tick boxes as far as qualifying for the upcoming Victorian title at Alexandra and as a result Redline benefits from their nominations.

Brendan Miller a driver very capable of winning any meeting he enters and Steve Kershaw will be a big test for Leigh Bourke who seemingly has won everything this season at Redline as far as Sports Sedans are concerned. Ricky Ashmore will be in the picture at the front of the field and Lucas Conder, Nathan Fawns and Craig Phillips will be hoping for better things after mechanical issues affected their racing at the last meeting.

Racing is across two days gates for the public to enter open at 2pm, with racing on Saturday night and Sunday night from 5pm, prices as per the following:

One day only prices for Adults $25- Aged & Disabled Pensioner $20, kids 5 to 15 years of age all at $5 each, whilst under 6 years of age is free & a family of 2 adults and 3 kids at paying age, $60-.
