Brad McClure has won the Street Stock Blue Lake Classic at the Borderline Speedway, Mt Gambier after a classic battle with National Champion, Anthony Beare on Friday night.

The lead changed hands several across the duration of the race, with Beare taking the early lead, with McClure taking the lead back on lap three.

Behind the pair, Mark Jennings, Justin Brumfield and Jeremy Weston were having their own battle, with multiple changes of position behind McClure and Beare.

Weston momentarily took third place at the half way mark of the race as Brumfield retired, as Beare and McClure continued to swap positions for the lead, in a battle which Street Stock fans have seen time and time again.

Mark Jennings had his turn in third place, but that too would be short lived as Mick Clark, who started from position ten moved to third, with Jennings retiring soon after.

Clarke joined the battle for the lead in the closing stages, with less than a second separating McClure, Beare and Clark at the end of the race. Jayden Edwards, Jeremy Weston and Steve Gartner rounded out the top six.

Earlier, nine qualifying heats were held with Weston winning the opening heat, before McClure and Beare won heats two and three. Michael Clarke convincingly won heat four, while Justin Brumfield was too good, easily winning heat five. Steve Gartner would win the final heat of the second round to make it six different winners from six heats. McClure won heat seven, to become the only driver to win more than one heat, while Jason DeGoldi won narrowly in heat eight, before Mark Jennings easily accounted for the opposition in the final heat.
