• A podium finish in last Saturday night’s Speedcar feature race at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway has well and truly boosted the confidence of newcomer Cameron Ware.

Since stepping into the Speedcar class at the beginning of this season, the 26-year-old racer has endured his struggles while trying to adapt to his new challenge, but on Saturday night, he turned things around with a third-place finish on the podium.

“To finish on the podium in only my fourth race meeting in a Speedcar came as a pleasing surprise,” expressed Ware, who had actually led the majority of the feature race, before being passed for the lead by eventual winner Nathan Smee on lap 16 (of 20) and then by Kaidon Brown for second on the final lap.

“It’s been a challenging learning curve in the Speedcars but to be able to put in a performance like this and come away with a podium finish up against the toughest weekly competition in the country does the world of good for my confidence.”

The journey prior to Ware stepping into Speedcars has seen him run five years in 410 Sprintcars, which saw him run a limited campaign due to budget resistants. Prior to that, the Blacktown, NSW-based resident has spent time in Wingless Sprints, Legend Cars and Speedway Karts.

Despite a short period in 410 Sprintcars, Ware credits it to helping him with his step into the Speedcar class.

“My time in Sprintcars has benefitted me for when I moved into Speedcars, as I didn’t have to worry too much about adjusting to the speed,” said Ware, who is the full-time track curator at Valvoline Raceway.

“With the speed not being an issue when moving into Speedcars, it has allowed me to focus more on the driving aspects and improve in that area in order to become more competitive.”

Ware’s podium finish couldn’t have come a better time, with the upcoming major Speedcar events at Valvoline Raceway, such as the NSW Title on April 18, the ANZAC Day Challenge on April 25 and then the two nights on May 1 and 2 with both the Australia VS New Zealand Test (Night 1) and then the 50 Lapper Classic (Night 2).

“I can’t wait to get back out there in the major shows coming up and being able to continue my learning curve,” the NSW # 16 Aussie Forklifts supported Hawk powered Spike racer enthused.

“The 50 Lapper Classic is the event that encouraged me to want to try my hand at Speedcars about 12 months ago, and it’s a move that my family and I haven’t regretted.”

Ware is proudly supported in the 2019-20 season by:
