• His family has been supporting the sport of Australian Speedway for over fifty years. Glen doesn’t know it any other way.

Gambier Earth Moving has been an industry leader and a massively important business icon for the Mount Gambier region and Glen Sutherland knows only too well the legacy that his late father and his family have built up.

Glen himself has been racing for seventeen years, and for much of the early part he was joined by another Mount Gambier icon in Bill Barrows who gave the driver of the #S20 as much of his experience and expertise as he could.

In the nearly two decades that Sutherland has been in the game he’s been on the road for much of it with the greater majority being in Speedweek battles.

“I love everything about Speedweek and being on the road,” he admits, “I just love the combination of traveling and racing. We did three years on the road with World Series Sprintcars and it was just an incredible experience.”

“Glen 20” has been in the saddle since starting as a twenty year old.

In that time he’s scored the solitary A-Main win at ‘home’ Borderline Speedway and that’s something that naturally he’d like to improve on.

My two favourite Speedweek tracks are home and Warrnambool,” he explains, “but my favourite track in Australia is actually Bunbury in WA. I just love the speed and the flow of that place.”
Glen is suited and booted for the trip to Murray Bridge Speedway to kick off the www.clayperview.com Sprintcar Speedweek this Monday night and with ace South Aussie crew chief Brad Lepe on the tools of the immaculate Ryder engines powered GEM Maxim will always be a car and figure to watch.

Speedweek wouldn’t be Speedweek without “Glen 20” in the field!
